Gallagher says Leclerc is 'a typical Ferrari driver'

Charles Leclerc entered 2022 with that expectation, after showing they could be in a title fight early in the 2023 season. However, these goals were not met as Red Bull has won all 12 races so far and Ferrari is fourth in the Constructors' Championship standings.

Leclerc's love for the team is very deep, but this love may not be enough to keep him at Ferrari in the long run.

Leclerc's current Ferrari contract will expire at the end of F1 2024 and contract negotiations are currently postponed to the end of the season.

Aston Martin and Mercedes are among Leclerc's linked teams, and Gallagher claimed on GP Racing magazine's podcast that it was extraordinary for a driver who had recently been Ferrari's 'golden child' to get to this point.

“It's truly extraordinary to watch the sport and see how careers develop and all their ups and downs,” Gallagher said. Charles is at this point now when he was the 'golden boy' at Ferrari. It's his fifth season at Ferrari and we wonder what he's going to do next."

"It's a bit like the typical Ferrari driver story, you come in with high hopes and then it starts to fall apart."

“Charles has made some driving mistakes over the years. There is also the fact that the team is a somewhat desirable team in terms of strategic, operational and personnel. So basically, every aspect of the team leaves a little to be desired.” said.

Leclerc's future will depend on whether Ferrari can fight for the title this season and what he can achieve in contract negotiations with the team. If Ferrari can't fight for the title and don't offer the contract Leclerc wants, there's a good chance he'll move to another team.
