TAYSAD Organized Supply Chain Conference for the First Time This Year

The Association of Vehicles Procurement Manufacturers (TAYSAD), in the light of the developments in the automotive industry, represents the stakeholders of the supply chain, which is preparing for a major transformation as “digital”; brought them together for the first time at the Supply Chain Conference held this year. At the event held at Elite World Asia in Istanbul; In the axis of the transformation of the automotive industry, developments surrounding the supply chain, both on a global and national scale, were discussed. The event, which was held with the main theme of "Digital Transformation", hosted many valuable names who are experts in their fields.

TAYSAD Board Member Tülay Hacıoğlu Şengül, who attended the event via video conference, said, “2020 showed that uncertainties are perhaps the only certain thing in our lives. We moved from offline to digital, from VUCA to BANI. While thinking that VUCA, which expresses a variable, uncertain, complex and ambiguous environment, has found its meaning with the pandemic, an American anthropologist, writer and futurist shared a new word 'BANI'. The 'B' in BANI stands for vulnerability. We are going through a period in which we experience and will experience breaks in the supply chain and in many areas. Our duty is to take the necessary measures to carry out our operation in the best way, even on this fragile ground. The 'A' in BANI stands for anxious. We see an increase in the anxiety levels of those around us. The 'N' in BANI is also non-linear… Our old knowledge and experience may not be sufficient to solve today's problems. For this reason, it may not make much sense to design long-term plans. There is no clear beginning, no middle point, no end. We are in a period where we are ready to do back and forth in the same game. The 'I' in BANI also means incomprehensible. Such a fragile, anxious, non-linear environment; makes many events and decisions incomprehensible.

The BANI world requires adapting to change, agility, flexibility, and correct management of risks and opportunities in order to be successful on all kinds of fragile grounds. In this case, digital transformation becomes an important tool that makes our lives easier with its leverage effect.” Emphasizing that with the transformation in the automotive sector, companies should get rid of the traditional perspective and focus on new competencies and skills with a game-changing, innovative mindset, Şengül said, “Our digital maturity level; We must continue with a smart and autonomous supply chain. In this respect, to be a part of the game in the globalizing world. We must focus on innovative thinking, being flexible and agile, and doing lean and high-quality work in all our processes in order to bring Turkey's position to the top.”

TAYSAD's Chairman of the Board of Directors Albert Saydam said, “While we were talking about the opportunities offered by Turkey regarding the Volkswagen investment for the last five years, or when we were making a presentation about our automotive sector at the Car Symposium, one of the biggest automotive events held in Germany a month ago. The first thing we said was 'Come to Turkey, the line won't stop in Turkey'. You are the one who provides this. In this respect, you deserve a big thank you. It will be possible for our Supply Chain Conference, which we held for the first time this year, as a signature event like our other events, to continue in the coming years with your support.”

Crisis and Opportunities in the Supply Chain panel

A panel titled “Crisis and Opportunities in the Supply Chain” was also held at the conference.

Fatih Uysal, Member of the Board of Directors of TAYSAD, who made the closing speech of the conference, said, “The motto 'Start the change with yourself' is indeed a very correct approach. I think it would be the easiest and fastest. In our conference; We discussed important issues such as risks and opportunities in the supply chain, digital transformation, sustainability, and the chip crisis. I would like to express my gratitude to all the speakers, sponsors and participants at the event.”
