Colombian President Gustavo Petro, in a post on X, referred to the US operations in the Caribbean and Pacific regions. He stated that he had ordered the suspension of communication and cooperation with all levels of intelligence of the security organisations and expressed that he expected this step to continue in parallel with the actions of the United States in these regions.
Petro emphasised the need to adopt an approach to the fight against drugs that prioritises human rights. He said that operations in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific will continue, noting that this approach focuses on protecting the rights of the people living in the region.
According to national media reports, approximately 70 people have lost their lives during the attacks carried out by the US in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific against alleged drug traffickers.
