BMW Motorrad has introduced the BMW F 450 RR, a sporty, A2-licence-compliant motorcycle designed for riders seeking performance in a lightweight package. The model combines a 420 cc twin-cylinder engine with electronic rider aids and everyday comfort features. BMW plans to bring the F 450 RR to Turkey in May 2027.

How powerful is the BMW F 450 RR?

The BMW F 450 RR’s liquid-cooled, 420 cc twin-cylinder engine produces 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. BMW says the engine delivers 80% of its maximum torque from 3,000 rpm, giving riders access to useful pulling power without needing to keep the engine at high revs.

The engine meets the Euro 5+ emissions standard. Its stated average fuel consumption is 3.8 liters per 100 kilometers. With a 14-litre fuel tank, the motorcycle is expected to travel more than 350 kilometers on a tank, although the actual range will vary with riding style and conditions.

Chassis, suspension and brakes

With a ready-to-ride weight of 177 kg, the F 450 RR is built for responsive handling. Its steel tubular frame works with a 43 mm KYB inverted front fork and an aluminum rear swingarm. This combination pairs a compact, lightweight structure with suspension components suited to sporty road riding.

Braking equipment includes a 310 mm front disc with a four-piston Brembo monobloc caliper and a 240 mm rear disc. Rider-assistance systems include ABS Pro, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Engine Brake Torque Control (MSR). These systems are designed to support braking and traction control as riding conditions change.

Riding modes and transmission options

Rain, Road and Race modes let riders select a response suited to the conditions or their preferred riding style. The available Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) is designed to make clutch operation easier, while Shift Assistant Pro enables smoother gear changes without using the clutch.

An optional GP Shift arrangement reverses the gear-shift pattern to suit the rider’s preference. This setup can be useful on track, where riders may prefer to upshift while accelerating out of corners. Availability of these transmission features depends on the selected equipment package.

Display, lighting and comfort features

A 6.5-inch TFT display presents riding information, and a USB-C connection supports device charging. LED lighting comes as standard, as do heated gripsβ€”an unusual comfort-focused addition to a sport-oriented motorcycle. The standard seat height is 790 mm, a figure riders can consider when evaluating fit and ease of reaching the ground.
