GAZİRAY, the urban rail system project of Gaziantep, has proved its success with its usage figures while leaving behind the third year of its commissioning. Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin announced that a total of 14 million 505 thousand 446 people have preferred GAZIRAY since the beginning of the project.
Comfortable and Environmentally Friendly Transport Alternative
Mayor Şahin underlined the comfortable and environmentally friendly transport alternative offered by GAZIRAY to the people of Gaziantep. He stated that the steady increase in the number of passengers is an indicator of the interest in public transport in the city.
New Train Sets and Destinations
As an important step towards the development of the project, it was reported that the new train sets of domestic and national production have arrived in Gaziantep. These new sets, which are undergoing trial runs, are planned to be put into service in the new year.
“Gaziantep will continue to be a pioneer in transport,” said Mayor Şahin, adding that rail system investments will continue uninterruptedly and GAZIRAY will play a key role in the city’s future transport vision.
