Fault Source and Possible Effect
A manufacturing defect in the integrated circuit in the Bosch-manufactured electronic module that was the cause of the recall caused the unit to unexpectedly fail. to safety mode (fail-safe)may cause it to pass. This could cause the booster for the front hydraulic brakes to suddenly fail.
- System Response:If the booster is disabled, the system automatically activates the electric parking brake on the rear axle and a series of warnings appear on the instrument panel.
- Driver Effect:Left without brake assistance, the driver feels a sudden increase in pedal force and is forced to apply more force than normal to stop the vehicle. The module must complete a full sleep cycle for brake assist to return.
