The Turkish aviation and defense industry continues its work on developing high-tech unmanned aerial vehicles without slowing down. ANKA III, designed by TAI, has made significant progress with the test flights. This platform, which successfully completed its 46th test sortie, also successfully completed the critical autopilot stages within the scope of system verification and identification studies. ANKA III, which left its first engine start-up phase behind in 2023, proved its presence in the air by performing its first high-altitude flight on December 28. This flight was carried out completely autonomously, and while the flight duration exceeded 1 hour, all controls were carried out automatically. The platform, which stands safely on the ground thanks to its automatic landing system, stands out as a new example of advanced unmanned aerial vehicle technology.
Attack and Security Tests
The platform, where tests continued unabated, also demonstrated its ammunition carrying capabilities. Especially in the ammunition tests carried out in the last stage, the targets were fully hit with the TEBER-82 Guidance Kit in the 12th sortie. At the same time, successful firing tests with TOLUN ammunition continue to demonstrate the combat capabilities of the platform.
Features and Technological Advantages
ANKA III is especially suitable for aircraft low visibility, high speedAnd large carrying capacityIt attracts attention with its superior features such as. Its design provides significant flexibility in operational tasks with its light but strong structure. It can operate at high altitudes with a takeoff weight of approximately 7 tons. 40,000 feet altitudeAnd 0.7 Mach speedcan reach and 10 hours air timeIt allows long operations.
Approximately 250 engineers and technicians involved in the project made the transition from concept to first flight in a short time by adapting to rapidly developing technologies. The platform’s capabilities have been maximized with artificial intelligence-supported modeling and simulations and flight control technologies.
ANKA III Strengthening Türkiye’s War and Defense Capabilities
ANKA III, which was developed with the aim of taking Türkiye’s capabilities in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles to a higher level, will be able to perform a wide variety of tasks thanks to its integrated operation with ground systems. This new generation drone, based on the achievements of platforms such as ANKA and AKSUNGUR, draws attention with its ability to operate from high altitudes for long periods of time.
The project was shaped by the engineering power and ongoing flight experience of Turkish Aerospace Industries. is preparing to make a big difference in the operational field. These developments are seen as an important step towards raising our country above world standards in unmanned aerial vehicle technologies.
