In a recent proceeding at the Suwon District Court, observers noted that the judge suggested the victim’s recollections might be blurred by the elapsed time since the incident. The judge indicated that the victim’s statements, considered to be the principal evidence, appeared inconsistent and, when weighed against the overall testimony, did not support a finding of sexual harassment.
As a result, the court reduced the 8-month prison term that was previously imposed in 2024 on the actor and then acquitted him. It was also reported that the actor offered an apology at the victim’s request during the proceedings. Allegations circulated that, during a 2017 tour, the actor allegedly embraced a woman and kissed her on the cheek against her will. O Yeong-su, who gained international recognition for his role in the 2022 Golden Globe-winning series Squid Game, had his sentence suspended for two years after the ruling in March 2024.
