Humm Organic and AEV have joined forces with the belief that healthy nutrition is every child’s right. The announcement of the social investment project called “An Organic Support for a Healthy Future”, which will be implemented across Turkey, was made in Diyarbakir, where AEV’s Child and Family Centre is located.
Humm Organic, the leading brand in the organic waste market, has signed a meaningful cooperation with the Mother and Child Education Foundation (MCEF) to support children’s steps towards a healthy future. The project, named ” An Organic Support for a Healthy Future”, aims to raise awareness on healthy nutrition and conscious food consumption for children by transforming consumer preferences into social benefits. In the first step of the project, the AEV logo was placed on the packages of Humm Organic’s best-selling products, Ginger & Cinnamon Cookies and Strawberry Cookies, and these products were introduced to consumers through Migros stores and Migros’ virtual market application. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these products will be donated to AEV’s science-based education programmes for children and their families. In the second step of the project, a guidebook on healthy nutrition will be prepared for parents and an activity book focusing on learning through games will be prepared for children. Future goals for the project will be planned based on the first year’s data, experiences gained in the field and needs.
our union is committed to better nutrition for a generation
The project launch took place at the AEV Child and Family Centre in Diyarbakir and was hosted by AEV General Manager Senem BaÅyurt and Humm Organic founders Aslı AcundaÅ, Hale Åener and Damla Åener Akkaynak. At the meeting, which was also attended by children and mothers from Diyarbakir, AEV General Manager Senem BaÅyurt said: “For more than 30 years, we have been working for the healthy development of children and their access to equal opportunities. Healthy nutrition is one of the cornerstones of children’s development. Our crossing of paths with Humm Organic is not accidental; it is the result of the shared vision of both organisations for the future of children. This project is on a mission to raise sustainable awareness that healthy nutrition from an early age is every child’s right. By combining the values of Humm Organic with the experience of AEV, we want to contribute to the growth of the next generation with better nutrition.â
our goal is to reach 10 thousand children and parents
Speaking at the press conference, Damla Åener Akkaynak, Founder of Humm Organic, said: “Our target is early childhood. Because it is very difficult but very valuable to create healthy nutrition awareness in children in this age group. It is a period in which we form the foundation and unfortunately, there is no compensation for possible mistakes to be made. In order to support the development of these children, to ensure that they adopt healthy eating habits and to support their families in this area, we not only provide financial resources for the scientifically based education programmes run by AEVA, but also support the sustainability of these trainings throughout Turkey. The social investment ecosystem we have established will continue for one year and we will have no sales limit. While the trainings continue, we will also be launching two different book projects for both parents and children. The guide book for parents will include resource information such as label literacy, creating a flavour map for children, distinguishing between organic and natural products, and healthy recipes that children will love. We will also prepare a fun book for preschool children. With this book, children will be entertained with fairy tales and games while learning about the nutritional sources that are useful for them. With all these activities, our goal is to reach a total of 10 thousand children and parents by the end of one year,” he said.
Social responsibility manifesto by three mum entrepreneurs
Speaking at the press conference, Hale Åener, one of the founders of Humm Organic, said: “As 3 entrepreneurs and mothers, our common goal is to try to spread the awareness that a healthy diet is a child’s right. The project ‘An Organic Support for a Healthy Future’ emerged with the experiences of Humm Organic and AEV in the field. This is not just a donation for us; it is a sustainable social impact model. Although it seems simple when we say it, the value of this project is that it is a social investment that we can measure the social benefit of its results.
starting her speech by saying that healthy nutrition is not a privilege, but the most basic and primary right of every child, Aslı AcundaÅa, one of the founders of Humm Organic, said; “Our research shows that more than 30 percent of the participants start consuming organic food for the first time during pregnancy or when they have a child. These results show that mothers are extremely sensitive to the health of their children and are eager to learn. Our aim was not only to offer the most accurate, healthiest product, but also to take it one step further. And the curiosity in the eyes and the smiles on the faces of the children we have witnessed here in Diyarbakir today are actually the summary of everything. We are responsible not only for today but also for tomorrow. Teaching a child to eat healthily transforms not only their body but also their way of thinking. It teaches them to make choices, to question, to be conscious consumers. Our dream for the future is very clear: A healthy, happy, conscious generation…he said.
the change in the body of children fed organic food for 5 days is astonishing
Nutritionist Yasemin Guzel, who took part in the academic part of the project, drew attention to the scientific importance of organic nutrition: “Childhood is the most critical stage of not only physical but also mental, emotional and social development. Proper nutritional habits acquired at an early age are permanent and are the strongest guarantee of healthy choices throughout life. We know scientifically that children are much more sensitive to pesticides and other chemicals than adults. When the urine samples of children who were fed completely organic food for only 5 days were analysed, it was found that pesticide residues in their bodies decreased up to ‘up to’. This finding demonstrates how effectively organic diets reduce children’s chemical exposure, even over a short period of time. As parents, when we offer the right choices to our children, we are also building their palate memories and flavour maps. Knowing what we eat and what we offer to our children is one of our most basic responsibilities as parents.â
