$19 Ski Train from Denver to the Rockies

The Winter Park Express, a partnership between Amtrak and CDOT, enters the new winter season offering ski lovers an easier, longer and more competitively priced way to get to the Rocky Mountains. The train ticket price for adults is only 19 dollars and for children only 9,50 dollars, which makes the train very attractive for families and adventure seekers.

Winter Park Express Expanding Service Routes and Reducing Fares

Due to record ridership last winter, Amtrak and CDOT have decided to extend the Winter Park Express. in the winter season 2025, this train will now run five days a week from Thursday to Monday, whereas previously it only ran on weekends.

Trains will depart Denver Union Station at 7:00 a.m., arrive at Winter Park Resort at 9:11 a.m., then arrive at Fraser at 9:41 a.m. Return services will depart Fraser at 4:05 p.m. and arrive in Denver at 7:05 p.m. These operating hours are ideal for both day and weekend ski enthusiasts. Governor Jared Polis calls the service “safe, affordable and essential to Colorado’s clean air future.” The service contributes to state plans to reduce traffic congestion on I-70 and support sustainable mountain tourism.

Winter Park Express Offers Comfort and Scenic Travel

On board, passengers can enjoy spacious, reclining seats, a ‘Sightseer Lounge’ with breathtaking mountain views and a café serving hot drinks and snacks. The two-hour journey is more like a mini holiday than a commute.

Skiers and snowboarders can bring their equipment free of charge, which means savings on parking or fuel costs. With the train stopping right at the foot of the ski resort, skiers are completely relieved of travel problems during the winter months. Amtrak intends to make the Winter Park Express an operating plan for expanding passenger train services in other mountainous states. Tickets can be purchased at www.amtrak.com or through the Amtrak app.
