Volkswagen's leading luxury SUV, the Touareg, is preparing to end its successful 23-year run. This flagship model, produced across three generations and selling over 1.2 million units, is bidding farewell to the automotive industry with a special "Final Edition." The company officially announced last summer that the model would soon be discontinued.
Touareg Exclusive “Final Edition” Details
Volkswagen has unveiled the "Final Edition," marking the final rollout of the Touareg. This special edition features intricate details that distinguish it from standard Touareg models. Laser-etched "Final Edition" lettering appears on the rear door frames, door sills, gear lever, and dashboard. These signatures highlight the model's status as the final, collectible version.
This special farewell edition is available starting at €75.025. Touareg enthusiasts will be able to order this final version until the end of March 2026. After this date, production of the Touareg will be permanently discontinued, and the model will be withdrawn from Volkswagen's lineup.
Changing Strategy and New Flagship
The Touareg's retirement is part of Volkswagen's transformation of its global strategy. The company has decided to shift its focus to electric and next-generation SUV models. With the Touareg's end of production, the brand's role as the flagship SUV will be relinquished. Tyrone will take over the model.
Volkswagen officials stated that the Touareg's strongest market remains Europe, particularly Germany. The model is also reportedly sold in 39 countries worldwide. This significant position, which the Touareg will leave to the Tayron with its departure, signals the new direction of Volkswagen's SUV strategy in the global market and the decisive steps it is taking toward an electric future. The Touareg, with its luxury and performance, will leave its mark on automotive history as a legend that will be remembered.
