SWM Motors Starts Local Production in Türkiye

Chinese automotive brand SWM Motors, is taking an important step in the Turkish market and switching to domestic production. A joint venture of ATMO Group and Urzema Holding Urzat Automotive Inc., will start production activities in Eskişehir Organized Industrial Zone (OSB). The first Chinese SUV model to be assembled in Türkiye SWM G01 Pro, will be specially redesigned and produced in line with the expectations of Turkish users.

A Milestone: SWM G01 Pro

SWM Türkiye Commercial Director Burak Azmanoglu, stated that the choice of Eskişehir for production was a result of long-term feasibility studies. Azmanoğlu said, “Eskişehir has strategic importance in terms of Turkey’s automotive history. It is a great pride for us to produce our G01 Pro model in this city. This model will be a turning point for our brand with its technology and domestic production features.”

Investment Statement from Urzema Holding

Murat Ertas, CEO of Urzema Holding, Emphasizing that Eskişehir stands out with its industrial culture, logistic advantages and qualified workforce, he said, “This investment is a strong indicator that the automotive industry in Eskişehir will revive. The facility to be established will not only be a production area; it will also be a technology and innovation center.”

Annual Production Target

SWM Türkiye, production annually 25 thousand units aims to start with a capacity. However, it is also among the plans to increase this figure in line with demand. In the first stage, the SWM G01 Pro model will be produced and this model will be offered to the Turkish market with its new interior design, engine-transmission options and technological equipment.

Azmanoğlu, drawing attention to the rapid progress of the partnership process that started in the second half of 2023, said, “The production decision was implemented in a short time. SWM, ATMO and Urzema Holding act with the same vision. We aim to introduce the first domestic G01 Pro model to the consumer in the fall. The production of different models is also among our plans in the future.”

Export Plans

The facility in Eskişehir aims to produce not only for the domestic market but also for export. ATMO Group, which currently operates in the Balkans and Europe, aims to position Türkiye as a regional export hub.

Dealer Network Expands

There was a significant increase in dealer demands after SWM Türkiye's production decision. Azmanoğlu said the following on this subject: "Our goal is to work with visionary dealers who can maintain quality service. We plan to double our dealer network by the end of the year."

Innovation for Electric Vehicles

Urzema Holding CEO Murat Ertaş stated that Eskişehir’s infrastructure, supply network and qualified workforce were decisive in the investment decision, and said, “Not only production but also innovation will be done in this city. Many models, including electric vehicles, will be assembled here. Eskişehir will add value to us, and we will add value to Eskişehir.”
