Playing a leading role in the transformation of public transportation to electric and autonomous vehicles around the world with its vision of being “One Step Ahead in the Future of Mobility,” Karsan attracted attention with its new generation technologies at the UITP Summit 15 held in Hamburg between June 18-2025.
Playing a pioneering role in the transformation of public transportation to electric and autonomous vehicles worldwide, Karsan continues to take part in international organizations. Introducing next-generation technologies to public transportation with the vision of being “One Step Ahead in the Future of Mobility,” Karsan took its place at the UITP Global Public Transport Summit 15 fair held in Hamburg, Germany between June 18-2025. Attended by over 100 thousand participants from more than 10 countries, the summit hosted approximately 340 industry professionals who shared their views and predictions with the audience. Karsan participated in UITP Summit 2025, one of the world’s leading fairs in the public transportation sector, with its e-JEST, Autonomous e-ATAK, and its new model e-ATA LE (Class 2).
Developed specifically for the dynamic needs of nearby intercity and distant intracity lines, e-ATA LE opens the doors to a brand new era in public transportation between city centers and suburbs and neighboring cities. While its spacious interior and 41 forward-facing, foam-padded seats with seat belts offer the comfort of a movie theater, it also offers an ideal solution for busy lines with its capacity to carry up to 90 people, including standing passengers.
With its battery capacity reaching up to 528 kWh with four different battery options, e-ATA LE provides a range of over 500 kilometers under real-world conditions. With its 250 kW engine power and 22.000 Nm torque, the vehicle demonstrates high performance even on difficult slopes, and offers a fast charging infrastructure of up to 200 kW and the convenience of pantograph charging, which allows the majority of the batteries to be charged in 5 minutes, thus promising maximum operational efficiency.
Karsan CEO Okan Baş made the following assessment regarding the new model:
“e-ATA LE fills the gap between long-distance urban lines and urban transportation in neighboring cities, while also redefining standards in terms of passenger comfort, energy efficiency and operational flexibility. This model, which we have developed in the Class 2 segment, which already has an important place in European public transportation systems, provides a strong and sustainable solution for the transition to electric mobility. With e-ATA LE, we not only take comfort and range further; we also offer an effective transportation alternative that can operate with high efficiency even in difficult weather conditions with its advanced driver and passenger air conditioning system. With our determination to transform mobility, we carry this vision even further with each of our new products.”
Thanks to the heat pump system offered in the new e-ATA LE model, efficient heating down to -25°C is provided, while energy consumption from heating is reduced by up to 80%. The ergonomically designed driver's cabin and digital cockpit infrastructure according to VDV standards combine high driving comfort with advanced technology. The fully integrated mirror camera and wide glass design maximize road and environmental visibility.
Karsan, which has taken on a pioneering role in the transformation of electric and autonomous mobility, was on stage at UITP Summit 2025 not only with its new model but also with its strong vehicle portfolio that redefines standards in Europe. In addition to the introduction of e-ATA LE, it once again demonstrated its leadership in the sector with e-JEST, which has been the uninterrupted leader of the European electric public transport minibus market for the last 5 years, and Level-4 Autonomous e-ATAK, the world's first planned route passenger-carrying vehicle in autonomous public transport. Karsan also shared data on its first quarter performance of 2025 at the press conference held on the opening day of the fair.
The company announced that it ranked 6,2th in the European electric minibus and bus market with a 6% market share. It finished the first quarter in 2nd place in strategic markets such as Romania and Italy, and 4th in France. Karsan's electric minibus model e-JEST maintained its clear leadership in its segment by reaching a 51% market share in the first three months of the year. As of today, Karsan, which provides service with over 27 electric vehicles in 2.000 countries, continues to write a strong success story in the field of sustainable mobility by reaching over 300 million kilometers of electric experience.
