Chery's Sustainability Commitments
Emphasizing once again its commitment to sustainability on World Environment Day, Chinese automotive manufacturer Chery continues to increase its investments in environmentally friendly technologies. The Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) system, developed and introduced by the company, offers remarkable innovations in energy efficiency and low carbon emissions.
High Efficiency Battery System
Chery’s new generation hybrid engine provides 46,5% thermal efficiency. This rate stands out as one of the highest values achieved worldwide for internal combustion engines. This structure, which brings together the continuously variable electric hybrid DHT transmission and the high-performance battery system, aims to increase efficiency, especially in urban use.
Reverse Efficiency Feature
The CSH system stands out with a function known as “reverse efficiency” in heavy traffic. This feature makes it possible to significantly reduce fuel consumption in stop-and-go traffic. The system provides an average fuel consumption of 100 liters per 4,5 kilometers, even when the battery is completely empty, thus providing the driver with both an economical and environmentally friendly driving experience.
Environmentally Friendly Production Facilities
Chery’s sustainability approach is not limited to product development stages. It aims to reduce environmental impacts at every stage, from R&D processes to production, from supply chain management to the end user. In this context, five production facilities have been awarded the title of “Environmentally Friendly Factory” by the Chinese government.
Carbon Emissions Reduction Strategy
In addition, in line with the company’s corporate strategy to reduce carbon emissions, a comprehensive framework has been adopted that aims to reduce the carbon footprint at every stage of the product life cycle. This framework starts from the initial design phase and covers post-production processes, thus aiming to increase environmental responsibility.
Collaboration with IUCN
Chery’s environmental responsibility approach is also supported by social contribution projects. The company carries out various social programs in critical areas such as environmental protection, disaster relief, poverty alleviation and education. To this end, a $3,5 million support was provided to the global program “Save Nature” in cooperation with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). This program focuses on important issues such as sustainable water management, restoration of marine ecosystems and protection of biodiversity.
Chery aims to promote the global expansion of low-carbon transportation solutions by integrating environmental sustainability into its business model. It continues to advance towards this goal through technological innovations as well as corporate partnerships and social responsibility initiatives.
