Innovative Hybrid System from Hyundai Motor Group
Hyundai Motor Group offers innovative electrification technologies that increase performance and fuel efficiency with its advanced hybrid system. This new system stands out with its features that are both environmentally friendly and increase driving pleasure.
New Transmission and Engine Structure
- The new hybrid transmission has two integrated motors and can be used in a wide range of vehicle classes, with compatibility with various engine types.
- Thanks to its optimized design, the new P1 engine offers high performance while being easily integrated.
- This hybrid system promises a superior driving experience by offering up to 45 percent more fuel efficiency and 19 percent more power compared to gasoline engines.
- The new generation 1.6-liter hybrid engine is also among the options.
- The hybrid engine family has a wide power range, from 100 PS to over 300 PS.
Hyundai Motor Group is setting a new standard in power and efficiency in the industry by introducing its next-generation hybrid powertrain. With this advanced system, it aims to consolidate its leading position in the hybrid segment and offer more innovative products to its customers.
Dual-Engine Structure and Driving Experience
The dual integrated motor transmission in the new generation system has the ability to work in harmony with different internal combustion engines. This structure allows the optimization of performance, fuel efficiency and driving comfort according to vehicle classes.
Vice President of Hyundai Motor Group Electrification Test Center Dong Hee Han“We developed this innovative hybrid system by integrating our long-standing experience in engine, transmission and hybrid system development with the electrification technologies we use in our electric vehicles. We will continue to use all the possibilities of electrification in the transition to electric vehicles and continue to offer high-performance, environmentally friendly vehicles,” he said.
A New Era in Performance and Efficiency
The P1 motor in the newly developed transmission undertakes the functions of starting, battery charging and driving support, while the P2 motor performs the functions of driving power and regenerative braking. This dual-motor structure provides a quiet and smooth driving experience by increasing power, performance and efficiency.
The new hybrid system also incorporates the engine and battery management experience gained by Hyundai with the E-GMP platform. In addition, comfort features offered in electric vehicles such as Stay Mode, V2L (Vehicle-to-Device Energy Transfer) and Smart Regenerative Braking are also carried over to hybrid models.
Higher Efficiency with Improved Engine Design
The new system was first used in the 2.5-liter turbo gasoline hybrid engine. Energy losses in the engine were minimized, and fuel consumption was reduced thanks to in-cylinder flow optimization and high-efficiency cycles. In addition, the new generation hybrid system will also be offered with the 1.6-liter turbo hybrid engine. This engine provides more than 4 percent more efficiency and faster acceleration compared to previous generations.
Smart Driving Technologies
Other innovations introduced with the hybrid system include Electric All-Wheel Drive (e-AWD), Electrification-Based Ride Control (e-VMC 2.0), e-Handling 2.0, e-EHA 2.0, e-Ride 2.0, Stay Mode and Smart Regenerative Braking. These technologies aim to increase both driving safety and comfort.
The Stay Mode feature allows all comfort systems to operate with the high-voltage battery when the vehicle is stationary, while V2L provides power transfer of up to 3.6 kW to external devices.
Hybrid Model Range Expands
The new system will be used in a wide range of products from compact models in the 100 PS to 300+ PS range to the luxury class. The system, which will be used first in the New PALISADE Hybrid, will be integrated into models of other brands in the Hyundai Motor Group in the future.
