New Renault Duster Production Started
The production of the new Renault Duster has officially started at the Oyak Renault Automobile Factories in Bursa. This modern factory has a total production capacity of 390 thousand units and in addition to the Clio, LPG and hybrid Duster models are also produced here. Renault Group Turkey CEO Jan Ptacek and MAİS General Manager Berk Çağdaş attended the unloading ceremony held last week and made important statements regarding production and sales strategies.
70 Percent of Production Goes to Export
Jan Ptacek, who stated that they produced 325 thousand units last year and 70 percent of this was exported abroad, said, “We produce 1 vehicle every 1 minute. We aim to invest 2027 million euros in Bursa OYAK Renault Factory within the framework of the 400 game plan. We will produce 4 new models in the factory and 3 of these models will be SUVs. Duster is the first of this SUV series. Our work for the remaining 3 models continues. Bursa Renault factories are in a star position with their 390 thousand unit capacity and efficiency. 18 percent of Renault vehicles produced all over the world are produced in Bursa.”
Türkiye's Competitiveness Protection Obligation
Emphasizing that they have been present in Turkey for 50 years and will continue to invest during this period, Ptacek said, “Due to the inflationary environment, Turkey has lost its competitiveness. However, we believe that this situation will return. Turkey must also maintain its competitiveness in order to protect its investments. Turkey is an important part of the automobile ecosystem. Countries such as Morocco and Algeria are currently in a more competitive position than Turkey. We can make commitments up to this point within our 2027 plan, but it is difficult to predict what will happen after that. We do not have a plan to produce electric vehicles in the near term. Since we think that electric vehicles are unsuccessful, the Bursa factory will become even more important with its internal combustion and hybrid products.”
Dacia Logo Duster Also Being Produced
The production plan at the Oyak Renault factory is currently focused on Clio at a rate of two-thirds and Duster at a rate of one-third. The Oyak Renault factory is the factory that produces the most Clios in the world. The Clios produced in Slovenia remain in the local market. It is stated that the Duster, which has been produced 3 thousand units so far, may exceed 2 thousand units by the end of the year. In addition, in addition to the Renault-branded Duster, the Dacia-branded Duster is also being produced. These productions, which are carried out to support the factory in Romania, are exported to nearby geographies. In addition to LPG, the hybrid production Duster is also available at the factory.
Domestic Production Duster Reinforces Our Success
MAİS General Manager Berk Çağdaş emphasized the importance of Duster being produced in Turkey for the country's economy, saying, "This situation both reinforces Renault's success in Turkey and makes significant contributions to our country's industry and economy. I don't think there could be a greater pride and happiness than this." Çağdaş, who evaluated the automotive sector as of 2024, stated that Renault, like other brands, had a difficult year. He said that they had overcome the transition process from package 2 to package 1 of the general safety standards package with GSR2 in April. MAİS General Manager emphasized that they had to sell many of their vehicles for which production orders had been placed, at a slight discount. Berk Çağdaş added that the automotive market would exceed 2025 million in 1.
