Change to Blocking Feature on X/Twitter

X/Twitter Blocking Updates

X/Twitter has decided to allow users to see posts from accounts they have blocked. The X team announced the change yesterday by sharing the statement, "We are launching the blocking update."

Posts Can Be Viewed If Public

The company previously stated in a statement, “If your posts are set to public, accounts you block will be able to view those posts, but they will not be able to interact with them (like, reply, repost, etc.).” With this new policy, X aims to provide more transparency on the platform.

Elon Musk, owner of X, commented last year, "There is no point in blocking public posts. This feature should be used like muting."

Users' Responses

This innovation announced by X received different reactions from many users. While some users used blocking only to avoid seeing disturbing accounts, others stated that this new policy could have negative consequences for people who block for security purposes.

Users opposed this decision, stating that it could be dangerous for blocked accounts to be able to view, take screenshots of, and share content made by the person who blocked them.
