Nissan's e-POWER Technology: Innovation and Efficiency
Nissan's e-POWER technology-equipped cars are offered to car enthusiasts in 68 countries around the world. This technology is a unique system unique to Nissan, using a gasoline engine as a generator to charge the battery. e-POWER drives the electric motor to transfer power to the wheels, providing instant torque while offering lower exhaust emissions and fuel costs than traditional internal combustion engines.
One of the most striking features of e-POWER technology is the regenerative braking system, which, in addition to the gasoline engine acting as a generator, helps keep the battery charged. This system increases energy efficiency by reusing the energy generated during braking.
Nissan first introduced e-POWER in Japan in 2016 with the Note e-POWER model. This innovative powertrain has since been introduced to other models such as the Kicks, X-Trail and Serena. In fiscal 2023, 42,6% of Nissan cars sold in Japan were equipped with e-POWER.
As of 2021, e-POWER was introduced in the Chinese market with the Sylphy e-POWER sedan and later integrated into the X-Trail SUV model. In the European market, the e-POWER versions of the X-Trail and Qashqai SUVs were offered for sale in 2022, and as of January 2024, more than 100.000 sales were reached in Europe. It is stated that Nissan cars with e-POWER technology, which were also offered for sale in Turkey during the same period, were sold over 12.000 units in total.
Nissan also plans to introduce e-POWER technology in the U.S. and Canadian markets by the end of fiscal 2026. The company will continue to enhance the attractiveness and competitiveness of e-POWER to meet the broad needs of customers around the world.
