Otokar Sells Huge Military Vehicles to Romania

Otokar, a global player in the Turkish defense industry, has signed the largest armored vehicle export contract Turkey has ever received in a single transaction. The agreement for the armored vehicle tender of the Romanian Ministry of Defense, worth approximately 857 million Euros, was signed in Romania on November 27, 2024.

Otokar, the defense industry company of Koç Group, has won the 1059 4×4 tactical wheeled light armored vehicle project of Romtehnica, which belongs to the Romanian Ministry of Defense. The agreement, which is worth approximately RON 4,26 billion (approximately 857 million Euros) excluding VAT, was signed in Romania on November 27, 2024.

The contract covers a total of 1059 COBRA II 4x4 armored vehicles and some integrated logistics support services. The first 278 of the vehicles will be manufactured locally in Turkey and the rest in Romania. Deliveries are planned to start in the last quarter of 2025 and be completed in batches within 5 years.

Otokar submitted a bid for the 20×2024 Light Armored Tactical Vehicle procurement tender opened by CN Romtehnica SA (Romtehnica), a company affiliated with the Romanian Ministry of National Defense, on March 4, 4. Following the completion of the technical evaluation, field tests and commercial evaluation processes, Otokar received official notification from the tender authority on October 4.

Otokar, which has been a military vehicle supplier to NATO and the United Nations since the 1980s, is actively using the COBRA II 4×4 tactical wheeled armored vehicle by more than 13 users in 20 countries today.
