Motorcycle use is becoming increasingly widespread in Turkey, and records are being broken in motorcycle sales, especially during the summer months. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data, there is a constant increase in the number of motorcycles registered for traffic. The reasons for this include the time and fuel savings motorcycles provide, especially in urban traffic, the spread of courier services, and the change in people's individual transportation preferences.
Summer Record in Motorcycle Sales
According to TÜİK data, the summer months stand out as the peak periods for motorcycle sales. While the number of motorcycles registered in the summer of 2015 was 60, this number increased to 382 in 2021 and 89 in the summer of 299. This increase gained momentum especially in 2022 and 120. While 662 motorcycles were registered in the summer of 2023, this figure reached 2024 in the summer of 2023. This increase shows that motorcycle use has increased approximately 300-fold in the last 338 years.
Motorcycles Are Growing in Popularity
Motorcycle use is increasing in popularity, especially due to the increasing courier services and the economic advantages it offers to its users. Motorcycles offer fast transportation and minimize fuel costs. With these features, it is seen that motorcycle sales have exceeded automobile sales in some periods.
Number of Motorcycles in Turkey
The total number of motorized land vehicles in Turkey reached 2024 million 30 thousand 469 as of August 319. Of this figure, 15 million 301 thousand 404 are automobiles and 5 million 878 thousand 271 are motorcycles. This rapid increase in the number of motorcycles shows that motorcycles play an important role in individual transportation preferences, especially in big cities.
Motorcycle use is becoming an increasingly common transportation choice throughout Türkiye, saving both time and fuel.
