MAN hTGX Receives Innovation Award for Hydrogen Combustion Truck

MAN’s hydrogen combustion truck hTGX, which completes its zero-emission vehicle portfolio, won the ITOY jury’s ‘Truck Innovation Award 2025’. MAN won this prestigious award for the third time, while the hTGX was praised by the jury for its success.

Dr. Frederik Zohm, Member of the Board of Management responsible for Research and Development at MAN Truck & Bus, received the award at the press day of the IAA Commercial Vehicles trade fair in Germany. MAN will start delivering the new hTGX to its customers from next year and will be the first European truck manufacturer to create a small series of hydrogen combustion vehicles.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Dr. Frederik Zohm stated that they were pleased to receive the IToY jury award and said:

“With the hydrogen combustion truck MAN hTGX, we offer a useful addition to our battery-electric vehicles. We are thus completing our zero-emission product portfolio for special markets and heavy-duty applications. Classified as a ‘zero-emission vehicle’, the hTGX makes a significant contribution to the decarbonization of road freight transport.”

MAN’s new hydrogen combustion truck hTGX will be delivered to customers in Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Iceland and some non-European countries in 200 in an initial series of around 2025 units. Offering an alternative zero-emission drive variant, especially for transporting heavy loads such as tanks or timber, the hTGX will be an alternative to battery-electric trucks in regions without sufficient charging infrastructure or in markets where sufficient hydrogen is available.
