BMW Announces Recall for More than 720 Thousand Vehicles

The United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that it has initiated a major recall for certain BMW vehicles produced between the 2012 and 2018 model years. In the official announcement, it was stated that an electrical connector on the vehicles' water pump was not properly sealed and this poses a risk of short circuiting if exposed to water. Warnings were made that the possibility of short circuit could increase the risk of fire.

720 THOUSAND 796 VEHICLES ARE AFFECTED

It was stated that the total number of vehicles that the recall may affect is 720 thousand 796. BMW will inspect the water pump and fittings of these vehicles free of charge, replace these parts if necessary, and additionally increase safety by installing a protective shield. It was noted that official notifications will be sent to vehicle owners affected by the recall as of October 4.

Earlier this year, BMW recalled more than 100 thousand vehicles in the United States due to engine failure that could pose a risk of overheating or, in rare cases, fire. It also recalled more than 1,3 million vehicles in China last week. This situation once again demonstrates the automobile manufacturer's determination and responsibility regarding safety.
