
Turkish Automotive Market Broke a Record in October!
The Turkish automotive market grew by 2023 percent in October 55.4, reaching the highest sales figure of the last 10 years. According to data shared by the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), automobile and light commercial vehicle sales increased to 101.367 units.
74.1 Percent Increase in the Automobile Market
In October, the automobile market alone increased by 74.1 percent and sold 82.611 units. This figure is 66.8 percent more than the same month last year. The light commercial vehicle market grew by 5.5 percent and sold 18.756 units.
63.7 Percent Growth in January-October Period
In the first 10 months of the year, the total automotive market grew by 63.7 percent compared to the same period last year. In the January-October period, total sales reached 958.942 units, approaching 1 million units. Of these sales, 749.501 were automobiles and 209.441 were light commercial vehicles.
C-Segment and SUVs Do Not Give Up the Leadership
When we look at the distribution of the automotive market by segments, we see that segments A, B and C, which have low tax rates, constitute 89 percent of the total market. Among these segments, the C segment holds the leadership. The C segment is at the top with 417.608 sales and a 55.7 percent share in October.
When evaluated according to body types, we see that SUVs take the largest share of the market. SUVs make up just over half of the market, with 378.181 units sold in total in October. SUVs are followed by sedan models with a share of 26.9 percent.
Share of Electric Cars Reached 6.5 Percent
When we look at the distribution of the automotive market according to fuel types, we see that the share of gasoline cars is 70 percent. A total of 57.796 gasoline cars were sold in October.
The share of diesel cars decreased to 11 percent. Only 9.170 diesel cars were sold in October.
The share of hybrid cars approached 7 percent. A total of 6.315 hybrid cars were sold in October.
But the striking detail was the increase in the share of electric cars. A total of 9.832 electric cars were sold in October, thus increasing the market share of electric cars to 6.5 percent.
