Lexus LBX Gets Corolla's Powerful Engine
Lexus' new small SUV model LBX is preparing to use one of Toyota's most powerful engines. LBX can be described as the luxury version of the Toyota Yaris Cross. However, there is a version of the Yaris Cross bearing the Gazoo Racing logo, which is equipped with a 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbo engine. By borrowing this engine, Lexus LBX will be the first model that does not carry the Toyota brand.
How Powerful is the LBX's Engine?
The engine that the LBX will allegedly use has the code name G16E and has a volume of 1.6 liters. This engine can produce 295 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque in the GR Corolla Morizo Edition model. Although the GR Yaris model has a slightly limited power, it can offer at least 257 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque in different markets. LBX, like other models using this engine, will come with a four-wheel drive system and 6-speed manual transmission option.
What Will the LBX's Transmission Be Like?
Another claim about the LBX's engine is about its transmission. According to rumors, the LBX will have this engine and Toyota's newly developed 8-speed automatic transmission with torque converter. This transmission will offer a superior driving experience in terms of both performance and comfort.
What is the Introduction of LBX ZamDo the moment?
There is no official date yet for the introduction of this powerful version of the LBX. However, Lexus announced in a statement last week that it would introduce a high-performance model for the LBX at the Tokyo Auto Show in January 2024. It was stated that this model would be more powerful than the 136-liter hybrid version producing 1.5 horsepower and would come with a new transmission system.
Lexus LBX is a model that will also be available for sale in our country. However, it is not yet clear whether this powerful version will come to Turkey.
