
WHICH COUNTRY IS GIRAFFE ISLAND?
Giraffe Rock, located between Gökçeada and Enez, is a disputed area. The Ottoman islands that Greece occupied as of February 13, 1914 were Thassos, Samothrace, Gökçeada, Bozcaada, Lemnos, Bozbaba, Lesbos, Chios, İpsara, Samos and Ahikaria islands. Among these, Samothrace, Lemnos, Lesbos, Chios, Samos and Ahikaria Islands were listed in Article 12 of the Lausanne Peace Treaty.
Giraffe Rocks is one of the islands that were not transferred in Article 15 of the Lausanne Peace Treaty. However, Greece built a lighthouse on the island in the 1960s.
