Volvo EM90: The design of the electric luxury minivan has been revealed

The EM90, Volvo's first minivan model, was approved by MIIT before going on sale in China. Pictures showing the exterior design of the vehicle were published on MIIT's website. The Volvo EM90 bears great similarities to the Zeekr 009 model, but has a new front end designed to be compatible with Volvo's other models.

Highlights of the Volvo EM90

Instead of the bright grille, the Volvo EM90 prefers a panel with small cutouts matching the color of the vehicle. It is thought that this panel will be illuminated with lights. Additionally, the headlights of the vehicle have a different design. The Volvo EM90 bears great similarities to the Zeekr 009 model, with the location of all pillars, side mirrors, door handles and fender cameras being the same.

Volvo EM90 will be released as an electric minivan. It's listed on MIIT's website with a 200-kilowatt, 268-horsepower electric motor. However, the Zeekr 009 model also has a 536 horsepower version with a dual-motor four-wheel drive system. This version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just four and a half seconds.

The battery capacity of the Volvo EM90 has not yet been announced, but the Zeekr 009 model uses lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt batteries produced by CATL. These batteries can offer a range of 140 kilometers with a 822 kWh battery and 116 kilometers with a 702 kWh battery.

When will the Volvo EM90 be available for sale?

It is not yet clear when the Volvo EM90 will go on sale, but it is expected to be first on the market in China. It seems likely that the Volvo EM90 will also enter the European and American markets. The price of the Volvo EM90 has not yet been announced, but it is known that the price of the Zeekr 009 model is around 300 thousand TL.

Volvo EM90 will compete in the electric luxury minivan segment. There are models such as Tesla Model X, Mercedes-Benz EQV and BMW iX3 in this segment. It is a matter of curiosity how the Volvo EM90 will compare with these models.
