A 23.53 magnitude earthquake occurred in Buca district of Izmir last night at 3,9. The earthquake was caused by the movement of the fault system on the southern border of the Gediz Graben. Earthquake expert Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made a statement about the earthquake on the social media platform X.
3,9 Magnitude Earthquake in Buca, Izmir
A 23.53 magnitude earthquake occurred in Buca district of Izmir at 9.23 last night, at a depth of 3,9 km underground. The earthquake was felt in Izmir and its surroundings.
The earthquake was also confirmed by the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) and Boğaziçi University Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute.
While AFAD announced the magnitude of the earthquake as 3,9, Kandilli Observatory announced the magnitude of the earthquake as 4.
It was reported that there was no loss of life or property in the earthquake.

After the earthquake in Izmir, earthquake expert Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made a statement on the social media platform X.
Görür said the following in his post:
“Friends, there was a 4,0 magnitude earthquake in Zafer-Buca/Izmir. An earthquake of the same magnitude occurred in the same place on October 1, 2023. The earthquake occurred between the Izmir and Dağkızılca faults. These faults are components of the fault system at the southern border of the Gediz Graben. Get well soon. With love"
Görür also marked the faults where the earthquake occurred on the map he shared.
