Mercedes made a strategy mistake at Zandvoort.

At the start of the Dutch Grand Prix, Mercedes made a strategy mistake by staying on the slippery surface for too long when it started to rain. This error resulted in Lewis Hamilton finishing fifth and George Russell eighth.

Team principal Toto Wolff said: "We've been out for a disastrously long time. We did it completely wrong.” said.

Wolff said Mercedes had a good pace but missing a potential podium was disappointing for Russell.

After the Dutch Grand Prix, the gap between Mercedes and Aston Martin dropped to 40 points.
