Daniel Ricciardo underwent surgery after his accident in Zandvoort.
The Australian pilot crashed into the barriers by locking his front tire at Turn 3 during the training session and broke the left scapula in this accident. Ricciardo withdrew from the weekend due to fracture, while AlphaTauri commissioned reserve driver Liam Lawson. Ricciardo had surgery on Sunday morning after tests in Barcelona.
In his post on Instagram, Ricciardo said, โHello everyone. I had surgery this morning, my first platinum work done, which is pretty cool!โ
โI would like to thank everyone who reached out to me and raised my morale. It's not a setback, it's just part of the comeback." said.
It was learned that Doctor Xavier Mir was also involved in the treatment of Ricciardo. Mir assisted the Canadian driver after Lance Stroll fell pre-season in a bicycle accident in which he injured both his hands and feet.
Ricciardo is likely to miss the Italian GP he won in 2021.
AlphaTauri boss Franz Tost said: "It looks like Liam will join Monza as well because I don't think Daniel will be ready to race at Monza."
โWe're taking Lawson into the simulator this week to get ready for Monza.โ said.
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner had also signaled the Singapore GP for a comeback.
