Alonso and Stroll performed well at Zandvoort
Aston Martin drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll performed well in practice sessions prior to the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix.
While Alonso finished the first session in second place, Stroll could not make the lap he wanted in the second session due to red flags.
Driving clean was important as they brought new updates on Friday.
After the session, Alonso said: “The updates we brought to AMR23 feel good, but we weren't able to complete the program we hoped for because there were several red flags during the session.”
“Nothing too dramatic has happened on my part and we gathered good information on Friday.”
“We still need to analyze everything and put everything together for tomorrow.”
Stroll also spoke positively after the first day.
“After the first day, I feel pretty good.”
"Due to the power unit issue, we had very little practice in the first session, which is a shame as Zandvoort is a great circuit and a lot of fun."
"But the problem was quickly resolved by the team so I was able to get back on track in the second session."
“We need to analyze data overnight to evaluate updates and prepare for tomorrow.”
