Opel is preparing to introduce the Astra Electric model to the market in 2023. Visiting Turkey for the second time in a year, Opel CEO Florian Huettl gave the good news that next year, two new Opel SUV models will be introduced in the B and C segments.

Opel CEO Florian Huettl's visit to Istanbul for the second time in a year demonstrates the importance Opel places on the Turkish market. The Opel CEO met with over 100 Opel business partners at a dealer meeting where he will introduce future models. In Opel's current product range; It was underlined that B segment vehicles such as Corsa, Crossland and Mokka have displayed a successful graphic in Turkey since the day they were launched. This year will be a full year of Astra, including the launch of Astra Electric in the second half of 2023. Next year, a new B-segment SUV and a new-generation C-segment Grandland will be added to the product range.

In his assessment, Opel CEO Florian Huettl said, “We completed the year 2022 in 7th place among all brands. We achieved a market share of 1,2 with a 4,7 percentage point increase in sales rankings and moved up 2021 places compared to 4. Therefore, Turkey showed once again that it is one of the most important markets for Opel. We will continue to develop and strengthen this position with new models and the launch of Astra Elektrik. In addition, we plan to introduce two new SUV models, one in the B segment and one in the C segment, next year.”

Apart from conventional motor passenger cars, the country's electric vehicle market, which is still quite new and open to development, is becoming more and more important for Opel. In February this year, Opel has already achieved a market share of over 5 percent in the rapidly growing battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment. With the new Astra Electric and the battery-electric version of the next-generation Grandland, the German manufacturer wants to be at the forefront of the BEV market.
