TEMSA, which has been working on the field since the first day with its volunteers to help heal the wounds of the earthquakes that took place on February 06, 2023 and caused heavy destruction in 11 provinces, implemented a meaningful project on the occasion of March 08, International Women's Day. Within the scope of the project carried out by TEMSA with the cooperation of Sabancı Foundation, CarrefourSA and Adana Chamber of Hairdressers, Beauty Salon Operators and Manicurists, the personal care needs of women damaged by the earthquake were met in the self-care tent set up in the Mavi Tent City area of Hatay.
1500 women benefited in one day
100 hairdressers and personal care specialists from Adana and Mersin were brought to the region by TEMSA for the project, which was brought to life under the name “You First”. In the self-care tent, where a heavy crowd has been experienced since the first hours of the morning, approximately 1500 women benefited from the personal care service they wished free of charge in the cabins reserved for them. In addition, personal care and hygiene kits prepared by CarrefourSA were distributed to earthquake victims by TEMSA employees.
“YOU WILL BE GOOD FIRST, SO THAT WE AS A SOCIETY CAN HEAL”
Ebru Ersan, TEMSA's Corporate Communications Manager, made evaluations on the subject and said, “As a company that experienced earthquakes in Adana, in its own home, we are one of the closest witnesses of the material and moral damage caused by the disaster. Clothing, temporary shelter, food, of course, are important and priority aid topics. But besides all this, the greatest need of our earthquake victims is to know and feel that we are with them. It may not have occurred to many people, but a month has passed since the earthquakes and our women here could not do any personal care during this time. With this project we realized on International Women's Day, we actually wanted to say to our women: 'We stand by you in all your needs. We are here until the wounds are healed. You will be well first, you will find morale first so that we can heal as a society.' That's why we designed our project with the motto 'You First'. In the tent we set up, we served 1 women in just one day. Our 1500 experts from Adana and Mersin voluntarily became a part of this project. Sabancı Foundation and CarrefourSA have always been with us since the idea stage. We would like to express our gratitude to all institutions and individuals who contributed to this project. We are happy that this project has contributed even a little bit to healing the wounds in the region!” said.
