The Dragonflight Roadmap for 2023 is now out, and Azeroth's champions have a lot in store. What can the community expect for this year?

Dragonflight is looking to be one of World of Warcraft's most successful and popular expansions. The new changes to the class and profession specializations, excellent features and storyline, dragon riding, and exciting raids have made players enjoy Dragonflight more. With a new year on the way, many expect more updates for this expansion, like additional ways to spend their  WoW golds and extra dungeons. With the 2023 roadmap available, it's time to look at what this year has in store for the champions of Azeroth.

Dragonflight Roadmap 2023

This might be the first time Blizzard has ever released a comprehensive roadmap that accurately provides details for upcoming content within the year. Many fans have seen this as an absolute win for devs because these types of posts maintain the hype or interest of the community. The roadmap announcement came with an overview explaining the highlight of each significant patch.

Here is everything that players can expect for the WoW accounts this year:

winter 2023

This winter will bring Patch 10.0.5, which will come out sometime around late January. This update will bring in three new major features to the game.

  • Trading Post

The Trading Post is a new NPC stall that players can visit anytime in significant cities. Some champions already know how this system works since it is already out in PTR. The Trading Posts is a hub where gamers can redeem tons of cool cosmetic rewards such as transmogs, pets, and mounts. These stalls will only accept a currency known as Trader's Tender, which players can acquire from doing monthly activities listed in the Traveler's Log.

  • Primalist Tomorrow

This winter will also see an expansion to the zone in the future known as Primalist Tomorrow. This place in time was introduced to the game when players had to have Chronormu and Eternus. This zone is accessible via a time portal in the Temporal Conflux area at the Thaldraszus. Currently, the site is only limited to the immediate surroundings of the Conflux. The update might expand on the futuristic setting of the Dragon Isles, along with some new quests. It will be interesting to see how the devs will develop this dimension even further.

  • White & Gray Transmogs

After the launch of 10.0.5, White and Gray items can now be used as transmogs. Players will have to equip and bind their appearances similarly to other higher-quality items to acquire their appearances. Transmog collectors and fashion enthusiasts will be pleased with this update since using white and gray layers were never allowed.

Spring 2023

Dragonflight will only get better come Spring, as three new significant pieces of content are set to go live. The main highlight of this update will be revisiting the starting zone of the Dracthyrs, the Forbidden Reach. Here is everything you can expect this coming Spring:

  • Return to the Forbidden Reach

Patch 10.0.7 will mainly focus on new questlines, lore, and rewards as the Dracthyrs return to their place of slumber. This chapter in the story will be the next step in understanding the origins and purpose of the draconic class. Fortunately, players won't be left hanging by the end of this patch's quest chain. This patch will set the tone for the subsequent MSQ updates for the Summer content.

  • Human and Orc Heritage Armor

The Heritage armor is back, and this unique cosmetic set will focus on two of the most iconic races from both factions. The Human and Orc racials will be getting their version of this unique transmog, so players should be ready to play out the questlines to unlock them. While it is clear that the Heritage armor will come out in Summer, there have yet to be any specific details on when exactly they will go live and how players can unlock them.

  • Holiday Updates

We didn't get anything specific about this one, as it was only mentioned in passing. We only know that the Holiday system in WoW will be getting an update. Players will have to wait for Patch 10.0.7 to go live to see the changes.

  1. Season Patch 10.1

We are getting many new features during Patch 10.1, which will occur between the Spring and Summer updates. These include a new zone for players to explore and a new raid to challenge. Patch 10.1 will also introduce Season 2 of Dragonflight, which means a new Mythic+ Dungeon Pool and a new PvP Season. Here is everything laid out for this particular update:

  • New zone

We need specific details regarding where the new zone will be in the Dragon Isles. We know it will provide champions with a continuation of the story in Dragonflight. However, there have been some speculations that the following area will be a subsurface region based on information that was data mined before launch. It is highly plausible that this place will be connected to the Forbidden Reach.

  • New Raid

We have no details about the new raid; it will most probably be a Raid near the Forbidden Reach. We will have to wait for further announcements until the update goes live.

  • New PvP Season

A new PvP season means ratings could potentially be reset. At the same time, player combat-related shops will refresh their wares, but these changes will vary. Gamers will have to wait for the patch to go live to see which items go into the store.

  • New Mythic+ Dungeon Pool

There will be a new Mythic+ rotation in Patch 10.1. We have yet to get any specific details for this one. We can safely assume that Neltharus, Brackenhide Hollow, Halls of Infusion, and Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr will be available this time. As for the other four legacy dungeons, we will have to wait for a further announcement before the patch goes live.

  • Professions Updates

In the post, it was only mentioned that professional updates would occur in 10.1. These changes are still unclear, but they could mean new item-level scaling gear to craft and some additional life skill equipment. Another potential addition is Archaeology, which hasn't been seen in WoW since the Cataclysm expansion.

  • User Interface Improvements

This particulate update is one we still need to learn about. UI improvements are broad and can affect many features, so it is hard to speculate from just an announcement. We will have to wait for further statements about this one.

summer 2023

Patch 10.1.5 will be bringing a few new contents to the table. However, the mega dungeon, the main highlight of this patch, is a huge feature that players will be excited about. Here are all the changes coming this Summer:

  • Megadungeon

There are no specific details for the upcoming mega dungeon. However, we can safely assume it will be based on the new zone in Patch 10.1. Notably, this is the first time in a long while, if not ever, that the mega dungeon is released during a 1.0 rather than 1.5.

  • World Events

We might get some additional World Events during 10.1.5 since we are also getting a new zone in Patch 10.1.5. They could improve some of the rewards or drop rates of existing events, such as the Siege of Dragonbane Keep.

  • Content & System Updates

Content and System changes are general terms for an overall fix to many features in the game. These include some rebalancing and bug tweaks.

fall 2023

This coming fall will focus primarily on progressing the current story of Dragonflight. There will also be a few minor changes, which players might appreciate. Here are all the updates for the Fall season:

  • Story and Quests

Devs avoided providing any details for this update to prevent spoiling players on the future of Dragonflight. We won't have any additional information soon, so gamers should wait for the update to go live.

  • Holiday Refresh

Holidays in Azeroth are also getting further improvements. These changes will affect Micro and Seasonal Events. There are no specific details for the refresh other than when it will happen.

  • Content & System Updates

There will be more general fixes and troubleshooting during the Fall season. These system updates are likely based on changes implemented in Patch 10.1.5.

  1. Season Patch 10.2
  2. Season 10.2 Roadmap only shows some things that would come out for Patch 2. Like Season 3, we do not have any specific details about these pieces of content. Any future information about these topics will likely appear near the end of the year. Here is everything you should expect from Season XNUMX:
  • New zone
  • Raid
  • New PvP Season
  • New Mythic+ Dungeon Pool
  • Additional Content and Features
  1. Since we don't have any more details about Season 3, we can only say a little about it. This season's Mythic+ pool could include the mega dungeon. PvP Season will probably have a potential rating reset and new items in the shop. Players should be okay with the lack of information that much since Season XNUMX is still very far into the future. In the meantime, players should continuously increase their ratings in Mythic+ and PvP and farm WoW gold.
