Electric MGs to Provide Mobile Generator Service in Earthquake Zone

Continuing its support to the regions affected by the earthquake since the first day, Doğan Trend Automotive has now rolled up its sleeves to provide energy support to the region. Electric MG models with V2L (Vehicle to Load) technology, known as vehicle-to-vehicle charging function, will act as mobile generators to meet the need for lighting and heating in the earthquake zone. Thanks to its special cable, which is connected to the car at one end and has a triple socket at the other end, a car can provide 70 kilowatt hours of electrical energy. The cars that turn into generators with the installation of the V2L cable can meet the basic needs of a family for 1 month.

MG directed vehicles going to Europe to Turkey

Contacting Doğan Trend Automotive officials, which represents the MG brand in Turkey, SAIC and MG officials stated that they are ready for any kind of assistance after the earthquake that hit our country. During the negotiations of both sides, it was decided to take action to meet the basic electricity need in the disaster area, while exchanging ideas on the support that can be made.

WHAT IS V2L TECHNOLOGY

While MG's new electric models with V2L technology were on their way to European countries, the vehicles were quickly sent to Turkey with the instruction of MG's senior management. Since the first day of the earthquake, MG Europe has made a great effort for the early delivery of electric vehicles to our country and the emergency delivery of special V2L cables to Turkey. The cables necessary for the vehicles to supply electricity to the devices were primarily sent to Turkey by plane. The MG Turkey team, on the other hand, took charge in the port as a team in order to speed up the import processes by making great efforts to take action quickly. Along with these efforts, Doğan Trend Otomotiv is preparing to take its 20 electric SUVs to the earthquake zone in the first stage to be used as mobile generators. As more vehicles reach Turkey, they will continue to be sent to the points in need.

Electric vehicles will provide mobile generator service in the earthquake zone

MG models equipped with V2L technology, which is exclusive to new generation electric cars, will thus act as mobile generators for basic needs such as lighting and heating, especially in towns and villages that are more difficult to access in the disaster area. With the V2L technology, which enables the electrical energy to be carried anywhere, by attaching a special cable to the vehicle, up to 3 kilowatt hours of energy can be provided with the triple socket at the other end. 70 kilowatt hours of energy can easily meet the basic energy needs of a family for 70 month under normal conditions. With the power of only one car, 1 tents or containers are the same zamcan be heated and illuminated simultaneously. With this technology, where it is possible to operate electrical devices consuming up to 3 kilowatts of power per hour with 3,3 sockets that can work actively at the same time, electric MG models can be used in periods of power outage or when sheltering in the vehicle; They will be able to meet basic needs such as lighting, electric heater and mobile phone charging at the same time for 2 days without interruption. Since there is no internal combustion engine, the most important difference from normal generators is that it is silent and does not produce exhaust gas, thanks to the V2L technology, when proper charging is provided, it will be possible for those in need, whose life has already been difficult in the disaster area, to spend the night without noise and harmful exhaust gas.

The Wallbox brand represented by the group provided charging stations to charge the electric cars to be used in the project. In cooperation with Aytemiz in the earthquake zone, the necessary studies for the determination of the places where there is electricity urgently and the installation of the charging station are also continuing. In addition, a support team was formed from the region to charge the vehicles with MG branded cars that can support the operation and to transfer the vehicles to the places where there is no electricity and where they are needed. Having mobilized for help from the first day, primarily the dealers in the disaster area, and zamDoğan Trend Automotive, which currently organizes various relief supplies for the disaster victims, will continue its activities uninterruptedly for the earthquake region.

It was first mentioned in the Japan earthquake.

The need for electric cars, which are normally powered by the grid, to operate in the opposite direction, that is, the need for the car to feed the grid, came to the fore for the first time during the earthquakes in Japan. In fact, after the earthquake, Japanese authorities determined that electric vehicles could meet the emergency electricity needs in the first 24 hours and conducted studies on the use of electric cars in emergencies. In a survey of more than 1.500 U.S. electric vehicle owners commissioned by Bloomberg Green, electric vehicle buyers do not consider/know the benefits they provide in disaster situations when choosing this type of vehicle. They mostly prefer electric cars for cost savings and environmental benefits. There are potential benefits of electrifying transport fleets. As buses and other public vehicles become electrified, they can be used in two ways to power bunkers and other emergency services, and even to support disrupted grids. New generation cars, which can store around 70 kilowatt hours of electricity when fully charged, can meet the energy needs of a full-fledged house for 2-3 weeks. When it comes to heating and simple needs, this period can be much longer. In the accounts made by the authorities and in the subsequent trials, the spouseszamThey state that four tents can be reasonably heated at once and the need for lighting can be met.

V2L (Electricity from Vehicle to Devices)

The technology, called "vehicle to load" in English, has the principle of loading energy from the vehicle to the devices. Electric cars with this technology can be used as generators when needed. It allows to use simple and low-electricity devices such as computers and mobile phones, as well as devices that require high energy such as water heater, air conditioner and electric heater. Electric vehicles with this feature can also be used by campers and caravan owners in nature.
