Diriliş Automotive Postponed Textile Works and Started to Produce Sleeping Bags

Industrialists started to transform their production according to the priority needs of the earthquake region. Diriliş Automotive Textile, which produces fireproof seat covers for automobiles in the capital Ankara, started to manufacture sleeping bags under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology. The General Manager of the company, Mehmet Gültekin, contacted the Ministry of Industry and Technology and stated that they started to produce sleeping bags and said, “We left our own business completely. We work 3 shifts a day. We are planning a production of 5 thousand units per week.” said.

TRANSFORMED ITS PRODUCTION

Diriliş Automotive, which produces various technical fabrics, especially automobile seat covers, carries out its activities both in Ankara and İvedik OSB. Gültekin, the General Manager of the company that produces fireproof car seat covers from different fabrics, explained how they transformed their production after the earthquake.

OUR BUSINESS TECHNICAL TEXTILE

Explaining that they planned to turn their TIR into a kitchen in the first place, Gültekin said, “But our job is to produce technical textiles, we produce automobile fabrics, we manufacture their upholstery here, we make their garments. Then we said, 'That's not our job, we can't serve food or anything.' said.

WE CONTACTED WITH THE MINISTRY OF INDUSTRY AND TECHNOLOGY

Explaining that they saw the need for tents and sleeping bags on AFAD's website, Gültekin said, “Of course, we contacted the Ministry of Industry. They said; 'It would be really helpful if you could produce sleeping bags.' We rolled up our sleeves to produce sleeping bags. Normally this is not our business. Then we started to supply fabric.” he said.

SUPPLIERS DID NOT RECEIVE MONEY

Stating that there is a special fiber inside the sleeping bag that keeps the user warm, Gültekin said, “While collecting prices from the companies, we said, 'We will buy half of it.' they said. zipper company said; 'We want to donate entirely.' This is how we decided to make a sleeping bag.” said.

24 HOUR BASED 3 SHIFT

Noting that they started the production of approximately one thousand sleeping bags a day, Gültekin said, “Currently, we aim to send 1 of our trucks to earthquake zones together with 3 thousand 500 sleeping bags in order to be prepared. We are planning a production of 5 thousand units per week. It works day and night, it works 24 hours a day, in 3 shifts.” he said.

1 MILLION DONATIONS

Emphasizing that they produced 6-7 thousand sleeping bags for 1 million liras, Gültekin said, “We decided to meet this from within the company itself. We left our own business completely. We are an export company, we have completely abandoned our own customers. 'We are working in the earthquake area at the moment, we will not be able to serve you.' we said. They also accepted it with understanding, thanks to them.” said.
