BorgWarner's AKASOL ultra-high energy battery system, which includes Delphi Technologies, will power the first heavy-duty electric truck series by a European manufacturer.
Each 747 AKM battery pack, developed for energy-intensive electrical power-transmission systems up to 9 volts, stores 98 kWh of energy and is ready for installation with all connectors. Three packages are used to supply 4 kWh to power the 2×294 truck and four packages are used to supply 6 kWh to power the 2×392 trucks.
The battery is designed to be compact and lightweight to maximize vehicle load. In addition, the electric commercial vehicle (eCV) has an estimated lifespan of around 4 cycles to keep the total cost of ownership as low as possible. Apart from that, liquid cooling and multi-level protection features make the system even more secure.
