New Opel Astra Selected 'Compact Car of the Year 2023 in Germany'

The New Opel Astra, which was selected as the “Best Family Car of the Year 2022” at the Business Car Awards held in England, has now received a new award in Germany.

The fifth edition of the Car of the Year Award in Germany, which was held for the first time in 2019, was held this year. The new Opel Astra, with its superior driving pleasure, accessible technologies, and bold and simple design language in the compact class, succeeded in convincing the jury of 27 automobile experts and journalists, and won the "Compact Car of the Year 2023 in Germany" award. The award was presented at a ceremony held in Bad Dürkheim, Germany. Independent jury of 27 members; It determines the winner of each class in five categories: compact, premium, luxury, new energy and performance. Candidates participating in the competition are selected according to price and availability criteria.

The judges took a close look at the new Opel Astra during extensive test drives. Driving dynamics, handling characteristics, comfort and many other points were taken into account. These were the disciplines in which the current generation of the best-selling model in the compact class stood out. With 133 kW/180 HP and 360 Nm torque, the electric Astra plug-in hybrid offers dynamic driving pleasure (combined WLTP fuel consumption: 1,1-1,0 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 24-23 g/ km). The five-door model also accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7,6 seconds. The new Astra is thus able to drive emission-free in urban areas for the first time.

Intuitive operation of infotainment systems, new HMI interface (Human-Machine Interface), fully digital Pure Panel cockpit with extra-large touchscreen and key functions such as air conditioning are provided with shortcut buttons. The most advanced technologies such as the adaptable, non-glare Intelli-Lux LED® Pixel Headlight with a total of 168 LED cells provide a more enjoyable and safer driving, especially in dark environments. Also available as Alcantara, the AGR certified (Healthy Backs Campaign eV) ergonomic driver and front passenger seats offer a high level of travel comfort.
