In the opening speech of the event, TAYSAD Deputy Chairman Berke Ercan said, “It is invalid to say 'the next process' for electrification. The electrification process is now inside our homes.” Yalçın Arsan, the founding partner of Arsan Danışmanlık, also touched upon the developing charging economy with electric vehicles and said, "If we realize that the charging operation takes place mainly at home and workplaces, and if we see who the stakeholders of this game are, we understand that we are faced with a picture full of completely different possibilities and opportunities."

The fourth of the "Electric Vehicles Day" event, which was organized by the Vehicle Supply Manufacturers Association (TAYSAD) in Kocaeli, Manisa and Bursa, was held for the fourth time. In the event hosted by TOSB (Automotive Supply Industry Specialized Organized Industrial Zone) and attended by many experts in their fields; The titles of the transformation in the automotive sector surrounding the supply industry were shared. In the event focusing on the risks and opportunities brought by the electrification process; The importance of the transformation surrounding the supply industry was scrutinized. In addition, at the last event of the series, the participants had the opportunity to examine nearly 2 electric vehicle battery sub-components vehicle parts brought by A1MAC300 in the exhibition area.

“We try to involve our members in this process”

Delivering the opening speech of the event sponsored by Vestel and Doğan Trend, TAYSAD Deputy Chairman Berke Ercan emphasized that the electrification process is at the top of the agenda of the Turkish automotive industry. Emphasizing that TAYSAD is trying to encourage all its members to the electrification process with the works and projects it carries out, Ercan said, “We aim to raise awareness on this issue and to provide technical infrastructure and technical information. same zamWe are currently trying to involve our members in this process. For this, TAYSAD has working groups. We have R&D working groups, the Automotive Technology Platform, which we have restructured with the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters' Association (OİB) and the Automotive Industry Association (OSD). We strive to nurture the technical infrastructure of this process with our working groups. We invite our members to join these working groups.”

“To say 'the next process' for electrification is invalid. Ercan, who used the expressions “Electrification process is now in our homes”, addressed TAYSAD members; “Your participation in these studies and activities in order to stay close to the process we are in is of great benefit for both your companies, our industry and our country,” he said.

“80% of electric vehicles are charged at home or at work”

Yalçın Arsan, the founding partner of Arsan Danışmanlık, also gave a speech titled “The Economy of Charging”. Explaining that “the charging economy is a newly developing world for us and therefore not easy to make sense of,” Arsan said that the issue should be discussed in detail. Explaining that according to research conducted around the world, electric vehicles are predominantly charged at homes and workplaces, Arsan said, "There is no study on this subject in Turkey, but I think that 80 percent of electric vehicles are charged at home or at work in our country." Stating that an expanding economy has emerged on the basis of the serious regulations of the state with the production, R&D and planning studies of the electric vehicles sector, Arsan said, “As a manufacturer, if we understand that charging at home is of critical importance, a brand new perspective can be opened to us, where we can use our R&D and production competencies. We can find new areas," he said.

Electric vehicles that illuminate homes and operate factories…

Stating that the number of 7-8 million electric vehicles worldwide could reach 50-60 million units in five years, Arsan said that this situation supports the strategic importance of charging at home or at work. What if we could give this energy back to the grid instead? Scenarios are being discussed that electric vehicles can turn into power plants at a micro level. If your network is available and your car is connected to the charger, the lights of your house will be turned on in the evening using the energy from your car. Therefore, perhaps we have the potential to use the energy stored by our electric vehicles for our own needs. The same is true for the peak hours of industrial production. If we look at the issue from this perspective, if we realize that the charging operation takes place mainly at home and at workplaces, if we see who the stakeholders of this game are, we understand that we are faced with a picture full of completely different possibilities and opportunities. We are in such a transformation that we can only take the necessary steps if we understand the scale, content and scope of it correctly.

Technology trends in the global electric vehicle market

Participants had the opportunity to examine nearly 2 electric vehicle battery sub-components vehicle parts brought by A1MAC300 in the exhibition area. Halil Özdemir, engineer of A2MAC1 company and Turkey representative, said, “We are one of the first customers of newly produced electric vehicles. We examine these vehicles and their components in all their dimensions, with transparent and repeatable methods in terms of technology, cost, performance, and renewability, and try to decipher the future.” In addition, within the scope of “TAYSAD Electric Vehicles Day”, the participants had the opportunity to examine, experience and test drive the electric products and vehicles of A2MAC1, Altınay Mobility, Suzuki, MG, Musoshi, Otokar, Öztorun Oto-BMW and Vestel.
