The Bus Body R&D team of Mercedes-Benz Türk at the İstanbul Hoşdere Bus Factory developed a front axle segment for the fully electric bus chassis.

Serial production of the eO500 U model buses, which will be produced for the Latin American market, will start this year in São Bernardo do Campo.

Mercedes-Benz Turkish Bus Development Body Director Dr. Zeynep Gül Koca said, “As the Mercedes-Benz Turkish Bus Factory Bodywork R&D team, we contribute to the development of the front axle segment of the fully electric eO500 U's chassis with many patents and innovation ideas.”

Mercedes-Benz Türk has developed the front axle segment of the chassis of the fully electric bus, which will be produced for the Latin American market, at its R&D center in Istanbul Hoşdere Bus Factory. The technology developed by the Mercedes-Benz Türk Bus Body R&D team for the all-electric eO500 prepares the Latin American market for electric transformation. Thanks to the eO500 U introduced by Mercedes-Benz do Brasil, Latin America's largest bus and truck manufacturer, buses will enter the electric transportation era in Latin America as well.

Opened in 1956, Mercedes-Benz do Brasil is an expert in the development and production of bus chassis. Series production of the electric bus chassis eO500 U, designed specifically for Latin American cities, will begin this year in São Bernardo do Campo in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. The long-distance tests of the product, whose strength will be tested with bad road tests, will also be carried out by engineers in Turkey.

Mercedes-Benz Turkish Bus Development Body Director Dr. Zeynep Gül Koca made the following statement on the subject: “Mercedes Benz Türk Bus Factory Bodywork R&D team has been carrying out bodywork development activities for Mercedes-Benz and Setra brand integral buses for many years. Our team, with its knowledge in this field, has been carrying out R&D activities for Mercedes brand chassis in both Europe and Brazil as of 2019 and the same zamAt the same time, it started to support the relevant units as the global engineering leader. As the R&D team, we carried out research and development studies of the front axle carrier body segment within the scope of the chassis project of the eO500 U.”

Emphasizing that the developed technology allows for a more comfortable ride, Koca said, “Turkey, Germany and Brazil R&D calculation teams worked together for the endurance simulation of the technology in question, including the system we have protected with a patent. Mercedes-Benz in Brazil for production works, Evobus Bus Production Centers in Germany, Spain and the Czech Republic, and superstructure companies in Latin America for superstructure works are carrying out a coordinated work.”

It has a range of up to 250 kilometers and a plug-in charging system.

The battery of the eO250 U, which has a range of up to 500 kilometers, has a plug-in charging system. The system in question has the technological standards of the system found in the fully electric Mercedes-Benz eCitaro city bus of Daimler Buses. These high voltage batteries take about three hours to fully charge.

Mercedes-Benz, which will launch the chassis of the all-electric eO500 U in Brazil and other Latin American countries to be determined later, plans to launch the eO500 U outside of Latin America in line with the demand from its customers.
