Being the first charging station with a capacity of 350 kW for heavy vehicles in Turkey, the new charging units have started to be used at the Mercedes-Benz Türk Aksaray Truck Factory.
Mercedes-Benz Türk Truck R&D Director Melikşah Yüksel said, “As Mercedes-Benz Türk, we took the first step in infrastructure works that play a key role in sustainability with our two 350 kW electric charging stations. With this new installation, our Aksaray R&D Center, in addition to the task of 'the only long-distance test center' for trucks bearing the Mercedes-Benz star; It has undertaken the task of being one of the road test centers for electric vehicles within the scope of its zero emission target.”
Focusing on sustainability and the environment in all its works, Mercedes-Benz Türk continues to move forward into the electric future with the installation of a high voltage charging station for electric trucks. The company, which has signed an important work on electricity transformation, which sets the agenda in the automotive world, installed two 350 kW charging units at the Aksaray Truck Factory. The new charging units, which have the feature of being the first charging station to be established with a capacity of 350 kW for heavy-duty vehicles in Turkey, were developed by Mercedes-Benz Truck Production Engineering Head Prof. It was commissioned with the participation of Uwe Baake and Mercedes-Benz Türk Truck R&D Director Melikşah Yüksel.
With the new installation, Mercedes-Benz Türk Aksaray R&D Center has undertaken the task of being one of the road test centers for electric vehicles within the scope of the zero emission target, in addition to its role as the "single long-haul test center" for trucks bearing the Mercedes-Benz star. With the commissioning of electric charging stations, which is an important milestone in terms of sustainability, long-distance tests of electric vehicles will be carried out and approved by the Aksaray R&D Center. In this context, the company, which installed two 350 kW charging units at the Aksaray Truck Factory for the R&D process of electric trucks, put the said charging units into the service of the R&D team with the opening.
Head of Mercedes-Benz Truck Production Engineering Prof. Uwe Baake said, “Mercedes-Benz Türk Aksaray R&D Center, one of the important centers of Daimler Truck, continues the necessary infrastructure works for the future of sustainable and carbon neutral transportation without slowing down. With the charging stations we put into service here today, the long-distance tests of electric vehicles within the scope of zero emission target will be carried out by Aksaray R&D Center. Thanks to the solutions and innovations developed by our R&D teams in addition to their responsibilities, the future of Mercedes-Benz starred trucks will continue to be determined from Turkey.”
Mercedes-Benz Türk Truck R&D Director Melikşah Yüksel said the following in her speech at the opening ceremony: “We are hosting two of the most important R&D centers of the Daimler Truck world at our Hoşdere Bus Factory and Aksaray Truck Factory. We took the first step in infrastructure works, which play a key role in sustainability, with our two 350 kW electric charging stations. Our roofing company, Daimler Truck, has determined our strategy for the technology to be used for a carbon-neutral future. In the coming period, our product portfolio will become electrified with both battery electric and hydrogen-based propulsion systems. Our charging stations, which have a capacity of 350 kW and provide fast charging for heavy vehicles, are also the first charging stations with this capacity for heavy vehicles in Turkey. I believe that the work of the Mercedes-Benz Turkish Truck R&D team will continue to play an important role in shaping the future of the Daimler Truck world.
