1 Billion TL Investment to Be Made in Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Huge investment will be made in electric charging stations with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Technology. With the Fast Charging Stations Support Program for Electric Vehicles, commissioned by the Ministry to establish the charging infrastructure of electric vehicles in Turkey, an investment of one billion liras has been paved.

Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank announced the results of the call in Bursa. Speaking at the opening of Nestle's Enteral Nutrition Factory, Minister Varank said, “Before Togg's launch, more than 81 high-speed charging stations will be commissioned in all 500 provinces. We will continue to boast, support and encourage the investments made by the private sector.” said.

TRANSFORMATION IN THE INDUSTRY

As in the whole world, electric vehicles have started to become widespread in Turkey as well. As Turkey's Automobile Togg, which will catch up with the transformation in the automotive industry, is getting ready to step off the mass production line, rapid charging of electric vehicles has gained great importance. Rolling up its sleeves for this purpose, the Ministry of Industry and Technology launched the Charging Stations Support Program for Electric Vehicles.

OPENED IN APRIL

After President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's statement in March, "We are taking new steps in the expansion of high-speed charging stations by taking into account the developments in the production and use of electric cars, especially our domestic car TOGG", applications for the support program started in April, with the announcement of Minister Varank.

INTEREST THAN EXPECTED

Applications for the program, which will enable entrepreneurs to invest in fast charging stations, ended on June 15. More than 200 investor candidates applied to the ministry for the program, which received more than expected interest. As a result of the evaluation, the companies that were entitled to receive support were determined.

WE LEAD

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony of Nestle's Enteral Nutrition Factory, Minister Varank announced the results of the call. Stating that the trend in automobiles is electric vehicles, Varank said, “As the Ministry of Industry and Technology, we are leading the electric charging stations to be implemented by the private sector. I would like to share a good news about electric charging stations. I announced the call for our 500 million lira budget charging stations support program, in which more than 300 high-speed charging stations will be established. The Call for Charging Stations Support Program, which we initiated in order to expand the electric vehicle fast charging station infrastructure in our country, has been concluded.” said.

WE WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE PRIVATE SECTOR

Noting that with the program applied by more than 200 companies, nearly 1 billion lira charging station investment will be put into use in one year, Varank said, “Thus, more than 81 high-speed charging stations will be commissioned in all 500 provinces before Togg is launched. Now, can we say that the state does not have a share here? Can we say that these are private sector investments, what does this have to do with the state? If you don't understand production, you say you are production ignorant. But we will continue to brag about the investments made by the private sector, support and encourage them.”

355 PROJECT APPLICATION

Within the scope of the program, a total of 46 project applications were made to 355 investment subjects determined by the ministry. As a result of the evaluation made with the competition approach according to the lowest support demand, 20 companies were entitled to benefit from the supports. The Ministry will provide a total of approximately 150 million lira support for these investments. In this way, approximately 1 billion liras of private sector investment will be triggered.

UNTIL APRIL 15

Within the scope of the program, investors are required to install charging stations by April 15, 2023. However, it is foreseen that the investments will be completed much faster.

THOUSAND 572 STATIONS

With the program, it is aimed to bring more than 90 MW of installed power to the sector with 572 stations that will offer a minimum of 180 kWh fast charging. In this way, Turkey will become one of the countries that increase its fast charging capacity the fastest.
