For the first time in the history of endurance racing, 11 race cars that participated in the 12th Le Mans 90 Hours, which took place on June 24-62, used 100% renewable fuel Excellium Racing 100, developed and produced by TotalEnergies. With this petroleum-free fuel, a reduction of at least 2% in CO65 emissions is achieved throughout its lifetime.

A world first in auto racing

The third leg of the FIA World Endurance Championship, the iconic motorsport event Le Mans 24 Hours, was held for the first time using 100% renewable fuel. Excellium Racing 100 represents an important threshold in the partnership between TotalEnergies and the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO), which pursues the energy transition and environmental strategy in line with the company's goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

A fuel produced from agricultural waste

Produced from wine residues (grape skin and residues) as a result of more than 18 months of R&D work, Excellium Racing 100 stands out as a fully equipped, renewable racing fuel that meets all the requirements of the FIA, automakers, drivers and European regulation on renewable energy sources. .

To improve the use of hydrogen in transportation

TotalEnergies, as ACO's hydrogen partner and the “H24 Racing” team, is establishing a mobile hydrogen filling station in Le Mans this year to fuel the “H24” hydrogen prototype that will make its way into the Road to Le Mans secondary races. The “H24 Racing” project, developed jointly by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest and the electric-hydrogen specialist Green GT, aims to include an electric and hydrogen-powered racing car at the Le Mans 2025 Hours in 24.

Patrick Pouyanné, CEO of TotalEnergies, said: “TotalEnergies, as a partner of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, is proud to offer competitors 90% renewable fuel at the 24th Le Mans 100 Hours. This is somewhat revolutionary for auto racing, a tangible sign of TotalEnergies' strategy to help customers and partners achieve net zero emissions. Equal to CO2 emissions zamBiofuels will play an important role in the advancement of the transportation industry due to its immediate reduction. These are the toughest endurance races for TotalEnergies. zamIt is a more important test environment than the current one, and on the whole, it is a showcase for motor sports. It has been a privilege for me to officially start the race!”
