OIB Future of Automotive Design Competition Applications Started

Applications for the Future of Automotive Design Competition, organized by Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters' Association (OİB) with the aim of developing innovative products and spreading the design culture in the Turkish automotive industry, have started. The Future of Automotive Design Competition, which this year's theme is "Charging and Battery Technologies Solutions" and includes world and industry trends, conferences, panels and the award ceremony for the competition, will be held at Bursa Uludağ University on October 25 this year. A total of 500 thousand TL will be awarded in the competition, the projects will have the opportunity to benefit from the ITU Çekirdek Incubation Program and all finalists will be given a Patent Registration Award.

OIB Chairman of the Board of Directors Baran Çelik: “It is predicted that half of the costs will consist of software and electronics in 2030, in the automotive industry, where big data also gains great importance. As the Turkish automotive industry, which has been the export champion for the last 16 years in a row and the export average of the last three years before the pandemic is 30 billion dollars, we have to take a leading role in this system.”

Applications for the Future of Automotive Design Competition, which has been held continuously since 2012 by the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters' Association (OIB) with the support of the Ministry of Commerce and the coordination of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, have started. This year's theme is “Charging and Battery Technologies Solutions” and applications can be made until August 26, where the records are received electronically. The Future of Automotive Design Competition, which includes world and industry trends, conferences, panels and the award ceremony for the competition, will be held at Bursa Uludağ University on October 25 this year.

The Future of Automotive Design Competition, which was organized for the purpose of developing innovative products in the Turkish automotive industry and spreading the design culture, and which has turned into an event that brings creative ideas to the industry in order to become even stronger in global competition, the establishment of R&D and design culture integrated with technology within the scope of Turkey's 2023 Export Strategy, It also aims to increase the added value in production and exports with technologies, to train new designers, to encourage commercializable projects, to strengthen university-industry cooperation, and to contribute to the presentation of original products to world markets. Çelik: “Software and electronics will make up half of the costs in 2030”

OIB Chairman of the Board Baran Çelik pointed out that today's global competitive environment requires having products with high added value based on advanced technology and innovation, and said, “With the effect of the concept of mobility/mobility, which is an indispensable part of the rapidly spreading digitalization process, there is a brand new ecosystem in the automotive industry. The things we can do while on the go have started to change, and parallel to this, different vehicle alternatives are developing. In this direction, the agenda of the world automotive industry is now electric, interconnected, driverless and shared vehicles. The new system brings with it developments such as a decrease in accidents and traffic density, a decrease in energy demand and transportation costs, and the elimination of multi-modal transportation and parking areas. In the system, where big data has gained great importance, it is predicted that half of the costs will consist of software and electronics in 2030. As the Turkish automotive industry, we believe that we have to take a leading role in this system. We think that the Turkish automotive industry, which has been the export champion for the last 16 years in a row and the export average of 30 billion dollars for the last three years before the pandemic, should take its place at the top of the global arena."

This year, a total of 500 thousand TL awards will be distributed to the participants of the Future of Automotive Design Competition. In this context, the winner of the competition will be awarded 140 thousand TL, the second 120 thousand TL, the third 100 thousand TL, the fourth 80 thousand TL and the fifth 60 thousand TL and the Patent Registration Award to all finalists. The projects in question are; As a result of the evaluation of the leading industry professionals, designers and academicians, the project owners with the “İTÜ Çekirdek Incubation Program” together with the awards in cash; will have the opportunity to benefit from office and laboratory services by receiving the necessary mentoring and training in order to mature their projects.
