Temsa and Presentation Will Produce 'Common Mind' for Electric Vehicles!

Established in cooperation with Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center (SUNUM) and TEMSA, the New Energy Technologies Unit will contribute to Turkey's electric vehicle vision with the new technologies and applications it will develop, while reducing our country's dependence on foreign energy in the field of energy.

A new one has been added to the public-private sector-university collaborations, the number of which has increased rapidly in recent years in Turkey. The signatures regarding the "New Energy Technologies Unit", which will be established in cooperation with the Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center (SUNUM), which continues its activities as one of the National Research Infrastructures of Turkey, and TEMSA, one of the world's leading electric bus manufacturers, were signed at a ceremony held at Sabancı University.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, President of TÜBİTAK Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, Sabancı University Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Leblebici, Sabancı Holding Industry Group President Cevdet Alemdar, TEMSA CEO Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu, SUNUM Chairman of the Board Prof. Dr. Alpagut Kara and PRESENTATION Director Prof. Dr. In addition to Fazilet Vardar, the managers and researchers of the two institutions also attended.

The New Energy Technologies Unit, which was established, will work on new technologies and applications for the development of battery technologies in electric vehicles, which are becoming more and more widespread in the world and in our country.

Within the scope of the cooperation to be made, it is aimed to improve the life of battery packs in the first place, to develop domestic and national supercapacitor technologies in our country and to commercialize them by TEMSA. All these projects and practices will contribute significantly to the reduction of our country's dependence on foreign energy in the field of energy, with the improvements they will create in electrification processes.

“WE MUST CREATE A COMMON INTELLIGENCE ECOSYSTEM”

Making evaluations on the subject, TEMSA CEO Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu stated that universities, industry and research centers are much more intertwined in the new world order, and said, “Today, the way to make a difference with technology in every field of industry is to improve our ability to find solutions together with the contributions of different stakeholders. With the support of the public, private sector, universities and research centers, in pursuit of 'common wisdom', developing ecosystems that feed each other continuously, not only our brands that we manage, but also our same zamAt the same time, it will take our country to a much higher level. This unit is one of the most important results of this 'common mind ecosystem' that we are talking about,” he said.

IT WILL BE THE ICON OF VALUE-ADDED PRODUCTION

Emphasizing that R&D and innovation are an integral part of TEMSA's DNA, Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu said: Putting innovation at the core of all its activities with its more than 4 employees it employs, TEMSA is a company that has achieved the ability to produce battery packaging technologies, which are considered the most important part of electric vehicles, at its facility in Adana. Today, we are proud to see our electric vehicles on the roads all over the world, especially battery packs, whose technology has been developed with domestic facilities. While doing all these, our aim here is not only to create value for TEMSA, our partners and shareholders, but also to take responsibility for a more environmentally friendly and more sustainable future; to create added value for our country and Turkish industry with all our achievements. I believe that this unit, which we signed today, will be one of the symbolic centers of value-added production in new generation automotive technologies.”

Signing the cooperation on behalf of SUNUM, SUNUM Chairman of the Board Prof. Dr. Alpagut Kara stated that this signature will enable SUNUM and TEMSA to carry their cooperation to the position of strategic stakeholder and continued his words as follows: “Our infrastructure allows us to progress up to Technology Readiness level 4 in the studies in the field of Energy, which are carried out under the leadership of our researchers at SUNUM. PRESENTATION – TEMSA New Energy Technologies Unit, we are happy to implement this unit, which will enable the research results to be transformed into socio-economic outputs more quickly and effectively, together with TEMSA.

ONE OF TURKEY'S NUMBER NATIONAL RESEARCH CENTERS

Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center (SUNUM) is a National Research Infrastructure that was established in 2010 by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Development and Sabancı Foundation and has been continuing its activities within the scope of Law No. 2017 since 6550. SUNUM has an infrastructure that can serve different sectors in different disciplines with its competence in the design, synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials and nanostructures, and the design and production of micro-nano systems developed from nanostructures. It carries out research and development studies in application areas ranging from medicine to chemistry, from medicine to energy, from cosmetics to automotive, from energy to agriculture, from food to the environment, with its 26 laboratories with rare technology in Turkey and in the world. In the field of nanotechnology, SUNUM creates intellectual property, separate or joint new infrastructures, and entrepreneurial companies for their dissemination when necessary, in order to offer products and services with universal validity and socio-economic added value. and works as a leading Center of Excellence.
