Offering advanced technology mobility solutions with the vision of being 'One Step Ahead in the Future of Mobility', Karsan cemented its leadership with the e-ATAK model, which it had captured two years in a row with the e-JEST model. In addition to being the first autonomous electric bus to carry passengers in Europe, Karsan e-ATAK became the best-selling model of the electric midibus market in Europe in 2021. According to the Chatrou Europe Market report, e-ATAK, which closed 2021 with a 30% segment share, became the leader of the 8-15 tons electric midibus market.
Carrying the technologies of the future to today and shaping the sector with its leading products, Karsan also leads the electric midibus class in addition to its successive successes in the electric minibus market in Europe. In addition to the brand's electric model e-JEST, which closed 2020 and 2021 as the leader, e-ATAK, an important player in the 8-15 tons electric midibus segment, also managed to become the leader of its class in Europe.
Karsan e-ATAK Leader with 30% market share in Europe!
Karsan, which has grown every year by surpassing the previous year with its electric models produced in Turkey, has managed to achieve a market share of 8% in the 9-30 m electric midibus class in the European market with its e-ATAK model. e-ATAK, which has become an important player in the electric city midibus segment in Europe, played a role in increasing Karsan's export figures, just like the European segment leader e-JEST model. Karsan, one of the important players of public transportation thanks to its electric vehicles serving in 16 different European countries, has realized nearly 3% of Turkey's electric bus and minibus exports in the last 90 years.
“We broke new ground”
Karsan CEO Okan Baş evaluated the success of e-ATAK in Europe and said, “In 2021, we broke new ground in electric vehicle projects. We made a framework agreement with Consip for 80 e-ATAKs in Italy and we have already received the first 11 orders. In addition, for the first time in Italy, we won the Cagliari Municipality's 4 e-ATAK tenders and we will deliver them this year. In Germany, we delivered 5 e-ATAKs to the Weilheim Municipality, which is a public institution for the first time. We entered the Luxembourg market for the first time with e-ATAK. With the driverless version of Karsan e-ATAK, our test drives have started at Michigan State University and Norway to carry passengers in real traffic conditions. After e-JEST, the first electric minibus of Bulgaria and adopted as Metrobus Bebe even in Mexico, it is pleasing that Karsan e-ATAK has achieved the segment leadership in Europe.”
“It will contribute greatly to our double growth target”
Karsan CEO Okan Baş said, “We want to grow at least twice in the European market in electric vehicles. We address the entire market with our electrical product range extending from 6 to 18 m, and we aim to be one of the top five players in the European market. The cards are being mixed again and we will position the Karsan brand in the top 5 in Europe with our electric development vision e-Volution. Our e-ATAK model, the leader of the electric midibus class, is one of our most important products in this sense, with its size, capacity and technology. Our Karsan e-ATAK model, which won the title of the first autonomous technology bus in Europe to carry passengers in the city, will also contribute greatly to our growth target.”
e-ATAK offers a range of 300 km
Developed by Karsan R&D, e-ATAK gets its power from proven BMW batteries with 220 kWh capacity. Its 230 kW electric motor, 8,3-meter size, 52-person passenger capacity and 300 km range have made Karsan e-ATAK a leader in its class. E-ATAK, which also has autonomous technology, can be charged in 5 hours with alternating current charging units and in 3 hours with fast charging units.
