Karsan signed a framework agreement with Italy-based public procurement company Consip for 80 e-ATAKs in 2021. Now, within the scope of this agreement, it has received a total of 7 e-ATAK orders from 38 different operators to be delivered by the end of the year. In addition, Karsan, which won the public tender for the electric bus for the first time in Italy, is preparing to deliver 4 e-ATAK vehicles to the Municipality of Cagliari in 2022. Thus, Karsan is rapidly entering the public transportation market in Italy, which is turning into electric, with a total of 42 electric e-ATAK orders.

Thus, Karsan continues its rapid growth in Italy with a total of 42 electric ATAK orders.

“We broke new ground in tenders”

Emphasizing that Karsan, which succeeded in breaking new ground in electric vehicle tenders in 2021, made important deliveries in growing markets such as Germany, Portugal, France, Luxembourg, Bulgaria and Croatia, Karsan CEO Okan Baş said, “In 2021, 80 e-ATAKs in Italy as well. We have made a framework agreement with Consip for the project and we have already received the orders for the first 38 units. In addition, for the first time in Italy, we won the tender for 4 electric vehicles of the Municipality of Cagliari with e-ATAK and we will deliver it this year. Italy is one of our most important focus markets, where we aim to grow with our electric vehicles. The 42 electric e-ATAK orders we have received so far are the first steps to grow in this market. "The year 2022 will be a year for us to enter new export markets with our electric models and achieve double growth," he said.

A sustainable growth target in Europe and North America!

Karsan CEO Okan Baş, who gave information about his activities abroad, said, “We achieved a turnover of 2020 billion TL in 1.6. In 2021, we exceeded 2 billion TL. 70% of this figure consists of our export activities," he said. Referring to their targets for this year, Okan Baş said, “We want to grow at least twice in electric vehicles. We address the entire market and aim to be one of the top five players in the market. We plan to position the Karsan brand in the top 5 in Europe.” Reminding that Karsan acts with the vision of "One Step Ahead in the Future of Mobility", Baş emphasized that they aim for sustainable growth in Europe and North America within this scope.

“We doubled our exports in 2021”

Explaining, “When we look at the quantity, we doubled our exports in 2021 compared to the previous year,” Baş said, “Last year, we sold 330 Karsan products to Europe. This was 147 the previous year. This includes electric vehicles as well as conventional vehicles. In 2021, 133 of our electric vehicles were included in the park in Europe. Thus, since 2019, 306 of our Karsan electric vehicles have been traveling all over the world in 16 different countries, mainly in France, Romania, Portugal and Germany.”

Baş said, “For us, 306 vehicles mean 3 million kilometers of experience.” We did 345 of them. This figure, which we have reached in the last 306 years, corresponds to almost 3 percent of Turkey's electric minibus and bus exports. This is a very serious achievement. As one of the leading companies in the Turkish automotive industry; We are proud of the success we have achieved in exports. We are also Turkey's leading brand in electric vehicle development. In order to carry these achievements even further, we aim to grow twice as much in exports this year.”
