Hyundai Motorsport has unveiled its new rally car, which will compete in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) in 2022. Developed on the basis of the i20 N model, one of the fastest models in the B segment, the New i20 N Rally1 will break out for the first time at the Monte Carlo Rally to be held on January 20-23.

In line with the changing FIA rules, the i20 N Rally1 will now also host hybrid technology and will represent the beginning of a brand new era in the world of motor sports. Prepared with an intense test and development program, the car wants to see more podiums in 2022. The Hyundai i20 N Rally1 combines its traditional 1,6-liter internal combustion turbo engine with a plug-in hybrid unit and transfers its power to all four wheels, as in previous years.

Taking advantage of Hyundai's electrification and mass production knowledge, the Hyundai Motorsport team will race the vehicle under different names in the new season. Belgium's Thierry Neuville/Martijn Wydaeghe and Estonian Ott Tänak/Martin Järveoja will be among the main pilots of the team. There will be a third Hyundai i20 N Rally1 in the German Alzenau-based team. Swedish rising star Oliver Solberg and veteran Spaniard Dani Sordo will share this car throughout the season.

Hyundai drivers will take part in 13 different rallies of varying difficulty, consisting of gravel, asphalt, snow and ice. The New Zealand Rally and the Japan Rally, which could not be held for the last two seasons due to the Covid-19 epidemic, will bring a brand new excitement to the spectators and teams in 2022.
