Having achieved significant success in production, sales and exports in 2021, TEMSA increased its sales by 90 percent and its exports by 144 percent in the bus and midibus segment. The total number of sales in all products increased by 122% compared to the previous year. TEMSA, which made the first electric bus sales in its history to Sweden, also sold 2021 electric buses abroad in 50.
Continuing its activities in partnership with PPF Group, which is also a shareholder of Sabancı Holding and Skoda Transportation since the end of 2020, TEMSA completed its first year under the new partnership structure with great success. Despite all the negative effects of the pandemic on the world economy and countries, TEMSA has achieved significant results in production, sales and exports. zamAt the same time, it reinforced its pioneering role in electric vehicles with the firsts it realized in the country and abroad.
Speaking at the press conference held on TEMSA's business results for 2021, TEMSA CEO Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu stated that they have left behind a year in the shadow of the pandemic and vaccine studies, and said, “The tourism and transportation industries are perhaps the sectors that felt the direct impact of the pandemic most intensely in the world. . However, we have witnessed many extraordinary developments in social and political terms, in addition to the concerns caused by COVID, in our priority markets such as the USA, Germany, France, England. Despite all these and TEMSA's challenging processes in recent years, we are on the rise again in 2021; It has been a successful and symbolic year in which we started TEMSA's return to its bright days. WE SELL VEHICLES TO 18 COUNTRIES, INCREASED EXPORTS by 144%
Sharing the details of the 2021 results, Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu said: “We have sold approximately 2000 vehicles in the bus, midibus and light truck segments. One of the biggest achievements of 2021 for us has been to consolidate our strong position in exports. In this field, we increased our exports by 144 percent on a unit basis, thanks to our innovative products and our strengthened dealer network, and we sold vehicles to 18 different countries. TEMSA's total sales increased by 122% compared to the previous year.”
WE LEFT BEHIND A YEAR FULL OF FIRST
Adding that 2021 has passed into TEMSA's history, especially with the developments in electric vehicles, Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu said, "We received the first fruit of TEMSA's long-standing electric vehicle journey last year, and we delivered the first electric vehicle in TEMSA's history to Sweden last year. On the other hand, we produced our first electric vehicles bearing the logos of our sister company Skoda at our factory in Adana and delivered them to Prague. Again, with the agreements we made with Romania, Serbia, Buzau, Arad, Druskininkai, TEMSA's electric vehicles will be on the roads in these countries as well. In addition, our electric vehicle, which we designed for intercity travel, continues its pilot applications in the US state of California, Silicon Valley, which is home to world technology giants. While doing these abroad, we have signed with our Samsun Metropolitan Municipality so that Turkey's first 100% domestic electric bus, which we developed together with ASELSAN, will hit the roads.

Sharing his goals for 2022 and beyond, Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu stated that successes in the field of sustainability and technology will be decisive in the future of companies. Stating that electric vehicles are the most important indicator of TEMSA's sustainability and technology vision, Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu said: “There are several elements at the heart of our vision for electric vehicles. The first is our responsibility towards the environment. According to the research of the International Energy Agency, the transportation sector provides 24 percent of global fuel-related emissions. 75 percent of this is due to land vehicles. Public transportation vehicles naturally reduce emissions. And when we put electricity and hydrogen on it, it creates a multiplier effect. The 9-meter city bus removes an average of 60 vehicles from traffic. Or, a 12-18 meter municipal bus can remove 90 to 120 cars from traffic. For example; just one of our Avenue Electron vehicles can save up to 528.000 liters of fuel per year. This means stopping about 1.400 tons of CO2 emissions.
WE WILL LEAD THE 2030 AND 2040 COMMITMENTS
Drawing attention to the commitments made at the COP26 Climate Summit held in the past days, Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu said, “As the country, we have made a commitment to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of all new trucks and buses to zero by 2040. When we come to 2030, we have to increase this rate to 30 percent. As TEMSA, we will not only comply with these commitments of our country; same zamWe will lead the way in this regard. We have prepared our own roadmap accordingly. Currently, 6 percent of our exports come from these zero-emission electric vehicles. This rate will increase every year and our target in 2025 is to increase this rate to 80 percent. In addition, in 2025, we will meet more than half of our total bus volume with electric vehicles.
OUR EXPORTS PER KG ARE 20 TIMES THE TURKISH AVERAGE
Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu, emphasizing that TEMSA is also a pioneer in value-added exports in its sector with its technological products, said, “The kilogram unit value of our country's exports in 2021 is approximately 1,3 dollars. This is around $10-11 in our industry. When we look at TEMSA's exports, while this figure is around 20 dollars for conventional vehicles, it even exceeds 30 dollars for electric vehicles. In other words, TEMSA makes a very important contribution to our country's exports today. The spread of electric vehicles will seriously reinforce this contribution. Our biggest advantage here is that we have not completed the transformation of TEMSA into an automotive-focused technology company. TEMSA, which dedicates approximately 4% of its turnover to R&D every year, has adopted innovation as a corporate culture, has reached the ability to develop even its own battery packs with the TEMSATech structuring in Adana, and is developing its technology day by day, will continue to operate in all areas of operation in the coming period. will continue to lead the sector”.
WE NEED A TOTAL MOBILIZATION
Expressing that there is a need for a total mobilization for electric vehicles in our country, Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu said, “We are ready for this with our technology, infrastructure and human resources. Turkish industry, Turkish automotive industry is ready for this. We have a great opportunity right now. Considering both economic and environmental gains, electric vehicles are one of the subjects that will shed light on the economic development of our country. The initial investment cost of electric vehicles is slightly higher than conventional vehicles. However, we all know that they are much more economical than diesel vehicles in 5-6 years of use. The use of electric buses in public transportation will increase rapidly if there is an incentive system or financial support that can overcome the difficulty in the initial investment cost and the financing difficulties of local governments.
