A total of 187 fatal and injured traffic accidents occurred in Turkey last year. In these accidents, 524 thousand 2 people died at the accident site and 422 thousand 276 people were injured. While 935 of the accidents occurred within the borders of the settlements, 147 of them occurred outside the settlement.
It was announced that 60 of the fatal and injured traffic accidents across the country occurred with side collisions. In the second place, there was a pedestrian collision with 843 accidents. The pedestrian collision was followed by a mutual collision with 29 thousand 980 accidents. In 11, 538 accidents occurred as a result of falling objects from the vehicle.
The data of the Traffic Department of the General Directorate of Security showed that 81 thousand 832 of the fatal and injury traffic accidents were single-vehicle accidents, 94 thousand 605 of them were two-vehicle accidents and 11 thousand 87 of them were multi-vehicle accidents.
Driver faults were the first of the factors leading to traffic accidents. According to the shared data, a total of 194 traffic accidents occurred last year due to driver fault. It was underlined that these accidents were fatal and injured.
Not adjusting the speed of the car in accordance with the weather and traffic took the first place with 72 thousand 943. In the second place, there is 29 crossings and non-compliance with the transition priority in places where the pavement is narrow. In the third place, with 349 thousand 18 units, not following the lane monitoring and changing rules was positioned.
While rear crash was in the fourth place with 16 thousand 550 units, it was positioned not to comply with the turning rules with 14 thousand 927 units. Among the factors found to be defective in traffic accidents that occurred in 2021, there were 18 thousand 351 pedestrians, 5 thousand 726 vehicles, 1026 roads and 3 thousand 926 passengers.
