Opel Vivaro-e to a Hydrogen Future with HYDROGEN

German manufacturer Opel is preparing to present the new generation light commercial vehicle model Vivaro-e HYDROGEN to its first professional fleet customer. Vivaro-e HYDROGEN, which has hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle technology, can be charged in 3 minutes and offers a range of more than 400 km, got off the production line to be included in the vehicle fleet of Miele, Germany's world-famous electrical home appliances company. Opel Vivaro-e HYDROGEN, which offers a cargo volume of up to 6,1 cubic meters and a carrying capacity of 1.000 kg, as in its internal combustion versions, can be preferred with two different body lengths of 4,95 meters and 5,30 meters. Opel Vivaro-e HYDROGEN offers a comfortable as well as efficient use with its security features, rich multimedia and navigation usage and many more features. The model is produced at the facilities located at Opel Headquarters in Rüsselsheim, Germany.

Opel continues to take concrete steps by continuing its move towards electrification at full speed. Opel, which has recently developed the new generation light commercial vehicle Vivaro-e HYDROGEN, offers short-term support to commercial vehicle users and professional fleet customers with its innovative fuel technology, range, engine features, size options, and limit. zamAt the same time, he received his first fleet order, attracting his attention. In this context, Germany's world-famous electrical home appliance manufacturer Miele became the first customer of Opel Vivaro-e HYDROGEN.

Opel CEO Uwe Hochgeschurtz and Opel Vehicle Development President Marcus Lott attended the ceremony held at the Rüsselsheim facility as part of the unloading of the first Opel Vivaro-e HYDROGEN from the production line. Speaking at the ceremony, Opel CEO Hochgeschurtz said, “With the new Opel Vivaro-e HYDROGEN, we are opening a new page in our sustainable transportation move. “This clever concept combines the advantages of the hydrogen fuel cell system with the versatility and capabilities of our best-selling light commercial vehicle.” Marcus Lott, Head of Vehicle Development at Opel, said: “The new Vivaro-e HYDROGEN perfectly meets the requirements of fleet customers. The hydrogen fuel cell commercial vehicle can drive long distances with zero emissions and recharge batteries. zamAn ideal solution for transporting larger loads without losing a moment. Opel Vivaro-e HYDROGEN brings zero-emission transportation into the future, especially for commercial use.”

Cleverly executed concept: long driving range, zero emissions and fast refueling

Vivaro-e HYDROGEN; It was created by integrating hydrogen fuel cell technology on the existing battery-electric Opel Vivaro-e, which was selected as the “2021 International Van of the Year”. The vehicle reaches a driving range of over 400 kilometers (WLTP1) with full hydrogen tanks. The 45 kW fuel cell can generate enough power for uninterrupted highway driving. The hydrogen filling is completed in the three minutes required to fill the diesel or petrol vehicle tank. The lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 10,5 kWh outside the fuel cell of the vehicle optimizes itself for every driving and working condition. Thus, the battery can easily reach the maximum power required during take-off or sudden acceleration. Lithium-ion battery, same zamIt also enables the regenerative braking function at the same time. Thus, the kinetic energy generated while the vehicle is in motion and braking can be converted into electricity. The charging feature of the battery, on the other hand, allows to obtain a battery electric range of 50 km by filling at the charging stations.

It does not compromise on cargo volume and safety!

Thanks to clever applications, the fuel cell electric light commercial Opel Vivaro-e HYDROGEN offers the same volumes as the internal combustion versions without sacrificing its capacity. In this context, the vehicle can be preferred with 5,3 or 6,1 m3 cargo volume options. Vivaro-e HYDROGEN, with body lengths of 4,95 and 5,30 meters, as M and L, has a load carrying capacity of up to 1.000 kilograms. Like other members of the Opel product family with battery electric and internal combustion engines, the Vivaro-e HYDROGEN is offered with a comprehensive suite of driving assistance systems that increase driving safety. The equipment level of the innovative model; It is supported by features such as a 180-degree panoramic rear view camera, blind spot warning system and front/rear parking pilot.

The new Vivaro-e HYDROGEN, produced at the Opel Special Vehicles (OSV) facility in Rüsselsheim, meets users thanks to more than 20 years of experience of Opel and its umbrella company Stellantis in the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. While the vehicle constitutes an important step in Opel's move to electrification, the Combo-e, Vivaro-e and Movano-e currently open to order complement Opel's battery electric commercial vehicles. With each new investment, Opel enables its commercial vehicle customers to choose more and more freely the powertrain systems they need.
